Drakengard is a world where magic and dragons aren't exactly strange and the only way they even travelled through that 'rift' was because of Queen Grotesquerie (unsure how, but that's what happens. Seere probably 'helped'). They wind up on the 'real' planet Earth, a world that is pretty much like ours (no magic and dragons and all that fantasy stuff) and even after defeating the Queen, they die (shot down by the army or something) and because the Queen is on Earth, a world devoid of 'magical medicine,' they inadvertently cause the apocalypse.
Skip a few thousand or something years later and we have NieR. Skip a few more thousand years later and we have Automata... which is still new, so I can't say much on that due to spoilers.
There's only one 'person' in Automata who can use magic.
Here be some big ol' spoilers if you know exactly who I'm talking about
And he dies at the end of his quest, which also signals the end of his story. Yoshi-P has said back in 2013 that if a character has died OR has reached the end of their story,
they can never appear in FFXIV.

Trust me, there's ways it could work.
I just can't see it working. I'm not against glamour appearing in this game (as that's just clothing and weapons), but actual characters like 2B, A2 and 9S... it's impossible to me (especially if they don't enter Eorzea as a side-quest in Automata).
