Lotro has this where it's an optional feature you're prompted upon when downloading the client. You either say yes and get the better textures, or no and stay with the older ones whilst all content going forward is produced with more attention and care. Frankly I'd kill for something like this as there's some comically BAD texture work in this game that was forgivable when the PS3 was an issue but now it's just kind of there even as the developers strive to do better. (Though judging by the texture quality of Edda's dress, they can still be very lazy when they want to be.)

Im gonna be honest and blunt here, after patch 3.0 and seeing no hardware AA I was holding on to my final hope of someone having a seizure for pushing the dev team to implement it for 4.0.

Its been so long now that I dont think its gonna happen because it would simply require a massive screen and an epileptic sitting too close which they probably know not to do.

The only thing I can think of is to try get a kickstarter to fund the team to do this or at least have the means to pull some people from the FFXV team, it shouldnt be this way but this is how a lot of gaming development is done now and the dev team is obviously stubborn af.
