    Kaboo:

The point in having a parser is to know how you are performing at any giving time in any encounter and see if there is any room to get better. Think about it like this when you are driving and pass a sign that says 35 mph what do responsible drivers do? They look down at their gauge to see if they need to increase or decrease speed. Meters, thermostats and Gauges are used everywhere. When you go scuba diving would you rather guess how much air you have left or would rather have a gauge?

Anyway having a simple parser will go a long way to help a lot of players especially on PS4 to help improve their performance.

Were numbers invented or discovered? How many Moogles does it take to make Kuponut rum? Answer: zero... They will give you a quest to make it.

    I don't disagree.

Just that you have a work around through the SSS calculator.

I enjoy my PS4 and not everyone can just go buy a descent gaming pc. I would have to spend $500 - $800 to have a pc equivalent to a PS4. This doesn't include everything else i need like a descent monitor, keyboard, mouse, + I would have to buy ARR+HW+SB all over again. I'm not willing to spend up to $1000+ just to have a parser.

The battle chat is already setup to have a simple parser for all FFXIV players. It would take very little resources to create such a parser. Ther is zero reasons for the devs to not give the player base an INDIVIDUAL parser to help players improve. If a F2P mmo like DCUO can create a parser for PC and PS4/Xbox1 users then why cant FFXIV?

I totally get where ur coming from I originally came from pc and use keyboard mousse on my PS4 now. I had a post myself asking about enrages but know idea on your dps. The simple fact is they aren't going to move on this def not in sb and probably never. It's disheartening but just not gona happen. The only reason this gets brought up so much is because thus game Is one of the few cross platform mmos. If it was pc only it would be a non issue. I support a parser, I'm just being realistic and know the only solution is to get a PC.

They could make it so you can filter the battle chat to only show your damage instead of everything that it currently shows (way too much info to try and sort through on the fly currently) a sorta makeshift parser without actually being a parser...

What if I need to move for a mechanic, or I'm forced out of bounds to deal with mechanics (timesgates in A12S, the tank and 1 DPS getting forced to fight an add in A4, etc). That is going to tank DPS. Then looking at Monk, even DRG to an extent, SSS is the worst way imaginable to check DPS. Brotherhood is useless as crap which means I'm a slave to Deep Meditation RNG. The only way to get accurate reads is from actual raid content, not a training dummy
Sss is a great tool when used correctly. What was does is give you a directly comparable indication of your dps potential which can be directly compared to other players.

It's a highly accurate measure as well because it eliminates all outside variables. Which makes for more accurate comparisons. 2 dragons that do the same dummy can directly compare results. 2 dragons that come out of the same raid fight can't because there's just too many variables in a raid setting to make an accurate comparison. If one of those dragons had constant balances trick attacks and skill speed buffs for example and the other didn't that leads to an incomparable set of results.

But if one dragoon smacks a dummy 10 seconds faster than the other. Those results are directly comparable because there are no outside variables.

Sss is also a measure of what your potential should be at your given I level Which again is something a parser simply can't tell you. Act or anything similar can't look at your ilevel and say hey your dps should be x amount. But that's exactly what sss does pretty much.

So sss is a great tool and gives you a highly accurate representation of your potential..

If you can't smash a dummy with 100% uptime there's no way you have the potential to clear the actual raid..

So in truth. Sss then is actually an amazing tool and it tells you a hell of a lot of useful information. It sets the bar that players should be at before they even attempt an encounter and it tells them how far above or below that they are in a directly comparable way to other players..

I also think sss highlights why the devs don't want an in game parser. Because if people cannot use sss dummies correctly and understand the information they provide. There is no way players will understand what a parse actually means or even use it correctly.

It's a great practice dummy but over all that all it is.

I need to gauge my dps in a raid or dungeon while dodging aoes...ect and know exactly what my dps is at that moment. I'm tired of guessing what my dps is... I really would like to get in a static group and take on the hardest content in the game but I need some kind of parser to make sure that I am pulling my weight during all phases in a fight. I want to see actual numbers every 20 or 30 secs to make sure that I am pulling my weight. I dont need to see what the other guy is doing as it is their responsibility to pull their own weight.
