    Battle Chat Parser

Chat Log could read as follows:
    Damage Dealt [30.0s] 4000/s - 120000 total Damage - 32% crit - 40% Direct hit.

With the example above I can see that I can achieve 4000 damage per second in my first 30 seconds with a total damage of 120000. I can take that information and see if i can improve my opener. Maybe i can squeeze out a little a more dps by placing this OGCD here instead of there... I can even compare notes with friends to see if its my rotation or if its gear/stats related.

Allow for options for when the parser gives you a read out. So instead of it just giving you damage read out per skill it simply gives you a DPS meter every 20 secs or 30 secs so it does't fill up your chat box with numbers... Problem solved.

The battle chat is already built for such a parser it would take very little resources to create this type of parser for everyone to use.

DCUO did something like that and never once heard a complaint about it.

The screen shot below shows a damage read out every 10 secs.

All I want is a way to see my DPS so I can see where i can improve.

Were numbers invented or discovered? How many Moogles does it take to make Kuponut rum? Answer: zero... They will give you a quest to make it.

There is the third party parser, Advanced Combat Tracker, that reads from the battle log and gives you your numbers (if you're on PC. PS4 is SOL). Does exactly what you're looking for, and goes the extra mile with individual ability damage, how much a boss's attack did, your crit rate, etc

Devs have a pretty hard stance on parsers, so really it's "fight club rules" with them. It's been brought up numerous times that people want an ingame parser to improve with, but they keep saying no (sadly enough)

Unfortunatly we cant use 3rd party applications on PS4. I am a PS4 user and its very frustrating to not be able to see my dps. I have to depend on PC players that have parcers to help me improve and at times that is frustrating.

The only forseeable way is addons finally being allowed, but SE loves to dance around it whenever it's brought up. They say they're still working on it, but with how many times it's being "pushed back", it's never going to happen

I don't see how individual parsers can be any more toxic then groups kicking players due to difference in play style. Or kicking players for being terrible at healing or not pushing out some damage as a healer. All of the above are toxic for the player base yet the GM's allow this to happen.

Most modern MMO's have some kind of built in damage reader. With all the dps checks in FFXIV there is no real reason as to why we cant have "individual" (Not Group) parsers.

On top of allowing things like that, they constantly add DPS checks, yet give us no way to check DPS. SSS was their answer and it's beyond horrible.

What if I need to move for a mechanic, or I'm forced out of bounds to deal with mechanics (timesgates in A12S, the tank and 1 DPS getting forced to fight an add in A4, etc). That is going to tank DPS. Then looking at Monk, even DRG to an extent, SSS is the worst way imaginable to check DPS. Brotherhood is useless as crap which means I'm a slave to Deep Meditation RNG. The only way to get accurate reads is from actual raid content, not a training dummy

All SSS states is that you know your basic class mechanics well enough to perform in the given encounter. You have to adjust to mechanics and figure out where your opportunities to go to pound town are, but if you can beat the dummy, you are geared enough / have a good enough understanding that you can clear the encounter.

Also there's a website that lets you turn SSS into a basic meter.

    Kaboo:

The point in having a parser is to know how you are performing at any giving time in any encounter and see if there is any room to get better. Think about it like this when you are driving and pass a sign that says 35 mph what do responsible drivers do? They look down at their gauge to see if they need to increase or decrease speed. Meters, thermostats and Gauges are used everywhere. When you go scuba diving would you rather guess how much air you have left or would rather have a gauge?

Anyway having a simple parser will go a long way to help a lot of players especially on PS4 to help improve their performance.

    I don't disagree.

Just that you have a work around through the SSS calculator.
