anyone know what determines if you receive 160 vs 240 seals for a completed escort, we have tried it many different ways and have had a lot of theories but it is never consistent.

Sounds like you (or someone in the group) triggered something to "undertake a more challenging caravan security mission" for 50% more seals? I don't really know; I haven't done them since 1.20.Originally Posted by 1.20 Patch Notes
Rewards are calculated by the number of cargo packs remaining when the caravan reaches its final destination. Players may be given the chance to undertake more challenging caravan security missions that award 50% to 100% more company seals.
Just throwing this out there in case you missed it in the lengthy patch notes.
We have actually lost packs and gotten the 240 completion minus the lost packs totaling 165
i think it might have something to do with how many times or how much damage the chocobos take. If u get the 240 the NPC at the end comments on how well you did. We think it might have something to do with if the chocobo drops below a certain percent health, regardless if it run and you lose packs. we had plenty runs where we didnt lose any packs and got the 160 because one of the chocobos dropped to like 65% health. we think the limit is 80% health on any chocobo to get the 240
We have had perfect runs where no chocobo gets hit at all and were only granted the 160 reward.
Edit: I just check with LS mates and the run I mentioned above with the 240 reward reduced to 165 cause of lost packs, that chocobo was down to 25% or lower health.

it could be time related then, if you dont lose packs and chocobos arent hit then it must be a time thing
last night we all swaped to our craft jobs too early and had to wrist flick an eft down. ended with less than a minuet remaining: 240 rewarded...
We are leaning toward its just random at this point.

It seems randomly you will get a more difficult version of the escort. I'm not sure if the NPC says something different about it or not. For the Camp Drybone one the harder version would give you multiple Banemites which are the toughest enemies of that escort run.
the tough mob in the grid one would be the Eft, so based on your idea we tryed it a few times. first 2 runs we got 2 efts and got 240 3rd run we got 2 efts and only 160 4th run 1 eft and got 160. ill keep tracking
