    need astro help

    OK, so im not an astro. have a friend who is and astro and i dont know much about them. i realize that there is no hard rotation for healers but a spell priority like with my summoner. does anyone know a place i can find (or you can offer) a good guide on lv70 astro rotation priority? she seems to be runnning out of mp STUPID fast usually

    Does she have like any questions in particular? What level is she? I find that my MP management isn't super great in the lower level dungeons or the ones I'm over-geared for where I DPS like crazy.

    In terms of DPS it's just whatever combust you have available and then Malefic or Gravity if there are 3+ enemies present.

    There isn't really a healing rotation though I would say focus on healing through your HoTs asmuch as possible if you're Diurnal (like playing WHM) and in either sect don't forget about Essential Dignity.

    Later on Earthly Star is also an amazing AoE heal, just requires a bit of planning.

    Speaking generally, these are some common reasons for having MP problems:

    - Hoarding abilities. Lightspeed reduces MP costs; Largesse improves spell potency; Synastry provides a ton of free healing; Essential Dignity and Earthly Star provide high potency healing at 0 MP cost; etc. Many healers sit on their CDs waiting for an emergency that either never comes or could have been avoided entirely by using these skills in a timely manner.

    - More specifically, not using Lucid Dreaming more or less on CD. Again, many healers wait until they are already scraping the barrel before they use it, which makes it far less effective.

    - Using their highest potency, most expensive heals when smaller ones will do the trick. Also, when using Noct, it's important to balance shielding with necessary healing if the healer is struggling with MP. It's great when attacks strike your barriers for 0 damage, but let's be real: shields are a luxury for most content, so it's not actually necessary to keep them up 24/7. Prioritize shielding when big hits are coming (such as a tank buster or when trying to maintain breathing room to DPS during a pull) or when a mechanic can be cheesed by not taking damage; otherwise, if MP is dipping too much, they should consider being slightly more conservative.

    In a raid. The most important thing for an ast is know which aoe to heal with earthly star, and communicating with the other healer when you're using it so he could do a lighter heal or just keep dpsing.

    Other than that it's pretty straight forward just heal, draw cards and dps. Balance and spear are the two cards I try to aoe as much as possible.

    Ok question, I used to only really focus on using Balance and Spear for aoe too but I've heard conflicting opinions on the Arrow card. Some people say it is defiantly worth using for the dps increase while others say it can mess up dps player rotations. Is there any consensus on using Arrow?

So I suppose that it's indifferent for a NIN. There's really no reason to give NIN an arrow, blm, sam, mnk, rdm, brd and smn are all a better choice.

    That is super helpful. I started AST right after the 4.0 update so there was lots of conflicting info out there concerning the cards and Arrow specifically. Thanks for clarifying.

    With randoms, I just don't bother with it. Instead I'll carry on fishing for Balance/Spear.

    With static members, I'll have an idea who likes it and who doesn't. It gets used accordingly.

    Arrow does add more DPS overall, though, unless your class is geared towards crit. Also it lasts for 30s compared to Spear's 20s.
