I figured this might be a good emote to use if one or more people abandon a duty, and you're stuck waiting around for DF to find more members, or just out in the open world chatting with some other peeps.
Whach'y'all think?

I second this. Also, obligatory request for persistent /read and /write emotes.
Hellluuuuuu maybe?

I like the idea, but a question asked during he recent Live Event touched on something similar, and their answer suggested it's not technically feasible.

A. I'm sorry, but we would need to rebuild the game from scratch in order to do that. There was a time we thought about having a "bonfire" minion, but the fire created a lot of stress, so the idea was shelved.
That's a shame! I like the idea of having an emote to use for those times when you're just waiting around. Suggestions such as a persistent /read & /write and /lean on wall or tree sound like they would not be hard to implement. I would like to add the idea of /converse where your character engages in small talk with a targeted person.

Reading too much of the forums makes me very sad and apathetic.
You mean like building an actual campfire and sitting there? Because I think they said they discarded that because it would stress too much the servers.
Just make it a lighting effect like the sun/moon minions? There's already some type of fire effect all over the place outside & in instances... I get that it might cause problems if too many people use in one place, but seriously?
