Still seems like nobody can reliably predict where or when this event will pop.
At least with the other battles the cycle was worked out.

Last time I met a reporter nobody got nothing, he just appeared a few people tried actually talking to him.

But he seemed to ditch because of all the /snowballs and didn't give anyone jack not even the lodestone thing.

Seems odd for me. Petyr Winsome had visited Ul'dah today on Gysahl World and was speaking in french with some people for about 10 minutes or so. Just when he was about to leave he said we could buy him an item from his bazaar (the aforementioned Magicked Prism (Harbor Herald)) in order to help him spread word of The Harbor Herald. It's a normal item (Reagent category), tradeable and you can actually buy him a stack of 99 (1g each).
I guess using the item triggers the lodestone achievement, not just seeing the GM.

I know that sometimes it could be frustrating because you have to be on the right place at the right time (or have someone to warn you), but I haven't seen this kind of "live" events before (on another games, I mean) and I'm lovin' them so much...

I did this event, got dc'ed when the priest was 5% health, came back and didn't get credit ><

I found the one in Uldah, but when I tele'd into Copperbell Mines, I stupidly ran away from the aether and went all over the mines trying to find the girl -_-

Shoulda just stayed put..

this is a spontaneous quest that happens. it happens in each city and only take 36 people a day i think. 3 groups of 12 or 16. the ath is only open for a little bit then closes. your lucky to have found it on accident.

The Purple Aether also spawned in Ul'dah at the very south end of the Sapphire Avenue Exchange. Though by the time I got there the aether stream despawned :/

Odd, I spoke to this npc who looked peculiar for some reason. In Uldah right at the bottom of the fountain below the Adventurer's guild. Female Miqo, after speaking to her she told me about a shady character at the south end of Sapphire Ave Exchange. She vanishes afterwards. I went to the spot she mentioned and saw nothing but I was not looking for aether, I was looking for a shady character in robes lol. No new quests appeared in my log so I figured it was a bug.

Nope, you actually found one of the 'criers' for the event, that is, an NPC advertising the event. And by the time you reached where the purple aether was you had actually ran out of time. Gods, that is so frustrating, once that happened to me I started hounding the goddamn event (so not worth it)

All you have to do is 'talk' to the aether to gain access... so you just wait where it's going to spawn. I found that if it spawns, it will usually do so 3 times in a row at that location. (e.g. 7pm > 8pm > 9pm) The event takes about 25-30 minutes from when it first appears until you're out of it. Takes like 10 - 15 minutes for mobs to spawn from when the Aether appears.
