Could seasonal events become a little more combat oriented/action-packed please?

    Hello.

I'm just giving my feedback for future seasonal events that I was possibly wondering; could we get a little more action in them? Not necessarily Dragon Ball Z style cutscenes although that in of it's self would be awesome! But I mean more like, could we fight a boss or something in some of these seasonal events. Not a FATE boss but like something you queue for or solo instance even. Something that actually makes you feel like you're saving the holidays from certain doom rather than being a mail man delivering key items between NPCs and getting a heroic tag that way.

To name a few examples, every year when the Halloween event comes around I keep hoping that we the heros of light might have to fight that pumpkin king guy or some of his minions in like a holiday trial of sorts, but it always about baked goods. Like I get "Trick-or-treat" and all that but why can't we have that AND a trial or something. Really add some pazazz to the event!

Or even the recent anniversary event. When we unlocked the cheap dungeon I was actually hoping to get to fight some mimics and bugs (with combat skills), or fight the Queen Mimic. We didn't even fight a single opponent and I was a little bit disappointed for it. The mini-game dungeon was cool and fun so that was a nice surprise, but I think I would like event holiday trials more. Like... let us fight Santa-Mandervillie as he uses his GSM limit break of toy making upon us!

Oh and as a repeat, when I ask for more action, I DO NOT SUGGEST FATES!! Fates is the worst way to go about doing that. Avoid Fates at all costs!

Those're my two cents. What do you guys think? Do you think our seasonal events could use a little more action/combat in them?

I also like to have those kind of events. The problem come on the work vs worth. Making a trial boss or a dungeon (unless they reuse something like the Halloween event) can take a lot of months of development, and the event is time limited. Make a boss battle spending a lot of developing time which will be accessible only for a very little time does not worth it. For example, a NieR event where we have a boss battle against a Engel, Ko-Shi or Simone will have a long development, assuming modeling, animation, mechanic design, programing, etc (even if it is only a trial), and that can take time from the normal patch development, causing the lost of content on a normal patch.

I guess they need first get enough people to make a team only dedicated to events. FATEs are actually the fastest way to make fight based events, like Ligthning one, where they just reused FFXIII enemy models.

Seasonal events are meant for everyone regardless of level, so unless this instance you suggest goes into PvP mode where everyone is the same level, I don't see how this would work.

Personally I like content that is more than just fighting things, but that's just me.

Why don't people like fates? This makes no sense to me but maybe that's because I'm new? Like this Yo-Kai event is ALL fighting and since it's fates I don't need to sit in a 30+min que for a duty which is great.

There is very little interaction involved with FATEs, thus many find them boring. The devs also have an overreliance on them when they run out of ideas. For a new player, you likely haven't felt the burn yet but for those of us playing for several years, it stings just a little bit. I don't mind them either, though the Yo-kai event pushed it way too far.

Plenty of trials have a level sync on them. And many seasonal events have a minimal level requirement of at least 15 or 30 to access them. I figured at the very least the trials could sync us down the same way a FATE would but would be more engaging and last longer than a FATE would. I just suggest a trial over FATEs because with a massive crowd of 400+ people in one location, FATEs lag and a lot of times you can't even see or so much as hit the boss. Look at Ixion for example. Ixion lags so bad I can't even make out what his attack patterns look like, thus making gold difficult for something that shouldn't be.

I liked the Lightning Returns event where you had to defeat that metal behemoth alongside Lightning in a cool FATE. Why we don't have any more events like that?

What I'm hearing is something like a seasonal oriented FATE. Sounds great, we'll be sure to forward this directly to the dev team!

One of the things the really sets that Lighting Returns FATEs apart for me then any other FATE is that the music is not the traditional FATE music. If they made new music to go along with that special FATE so you aren't listening to the standard theme, I could get behind that. Otherwise it would just feel like they just added on another FATE to the zone.

Also, new enemies models and, of course, the Lighning model fully renderized in the FFXIV engine <3
