No, they don't. That's fine if you don't like parsers, but gross exaggerations of the amount of "harassment" that takes place actively involving them is not. Neither side has hard, quantitative evidence that the harassment is not wide-spread, but a lot of the people that have commented here have anecdotal experiences to suggest it is a very rare occurrence. Again, I've reported ONE person for harassing a player via a parse, and that was in a Zurvan Ex bird farm (and that place already brought out the absolute worst in people anyways).

This is an unfounded worry. If SE allowed the use of parsers, they would still NOT allow harassment, no matter what form it took.

Because A)all people bother to report harassment B) SE has a proactive record for GMing this game C) all issues are recorded in game in a way that SE moderates. If people were actually scared of GM repercussions I doubt we would see as much fun stuff on forums and elsewhere as we do. But maybe GMs would get hard rules and work to enforce them in a way where we wouldn't see three different threads quoting GMs all with differing answers or vague dev answers like as long as it is not a big profit.

IMO having a parser is fine. Mentioning it and bitching about people's DPS is cancer.

Gee. Just reading the first couple pages has me a little paranoid. I play the game with no extra bells and whistles whatsoever. With using experience and knowing a run done many times to have the pattern burned into my brain, I could say "we're not doing enough damage" or "dps is kinda low, hurry, boss is about to enrage", just by looking at the hp bar of the boss. I'd really not like to suddenly be pulled aside by a GM with an accusation of using a parser. That's definitely not okay if I'm surrounded by trigger finger reporters.

Don't worry about it. GMs take a very leisure approach to parsing. If you're blatantly calling someone an idiot and posting their DPS numbers in chat, you can get in trouble. If you have ACT running, they don't care. Likewise, you could kick someone for underperforming without ever mentioning their numbers and you'd be fine. If someone is ever randomly kicked from a Savage PF or it abruptly disbands, that's because the leader had a parse going. Basically, don't directly bring up numbers to that specific person and you're fine.

When it comes to parsing, people go balls to the walls with the hyperbole.

There isn't any reason to be afraid of people parsing your runs unless you are doing really, REALLY poorly. When I say really poorly, I mean like...3.0 numbers in level 70 content. Generally speaking, people aren't going to risk saying something unless the damage is particularly egregious.

So, is it really toxicity, or are people just afraid of finding out how mediocre they really are?

An individual parse that only the player can see of his or her own dps hurts NO ONE. Absolutely NO one. If it can be toggled then there really is no excuse not to have one other than wanting to deny someone else the privilege of a tool they think may help them see how they are doing.

    1) OP posted this in the wrong forum. There never was an SE parser.
    2) What you really need is really just a pseudo parser. Graded like kindergarten kids because doing your best isn't enough, A+ to F-.

Don't forget this is the generation that is easily offended and even more easily to speak out against said offence. Instead of F- it would be "Needs Improvement".

If you read my other post you'd see I explained they have to say something that makes it seem like they are using one.

If they say something that Makes it seem like they are using one yes, I'll gladly file a report. If its false I'm sorry, but oh well, I'd rather file a report against someone who could be using one and potentially abusing players.

Now if they say something like "hey, I noticed your using this move before or after this other move, of you switched it you'd do more damage." then no, I won't report something genuinely helpful sounding like that.
