I know I am going to feel silly asking

So, I have been reading but 1 thing I can not find an answer to, I just know it is going to be something simple too. Anyway I am level 7 and I initiated a levequest ( Spores for the ceremony) When I set out to get to where I need to go on the map there is a dead end. I can't seem to find anyway to get there. Could some kind soul shed some light on this for me? As I said I know it has to be something simple I am just not aware of. Thank you in advance ( and yes you can laugh ) Also, the sparkling areas along the way where it looks like there is something? I assume I just need the right tool in hand for those? Like a pickaxe or something? (when it is on the rocks twinkling) Thanks again. I have started to learn a few little things, like how I can repair my own item when that time comes Oh! is there a world chat of some sort? Kinda lonely out here lol. I do think it is way cool that you can change around just by equipping a different item. Thanks again and back I go

I could only help you answer this part, since I'm not familiar with that levequest

If it is a constant shine, like a gleaming star in the picture above, then it's the primary tool.

If it's sparkling and marked on your mini-map, it uses the secondary tools from the DoL (Discipline of Land) jobs.

You can buy the starter primary and secondary tools at NPCs. The secondary tools are; [item=7010108]Weathered Sledgehammer[/item] [item=7020108]Weathered Scythe[/item] [item=7030108]Weathered Gig[/item], it's easier to find the NPC middle of Fieldcraft section of the market wards oppose to wandering around town.

No, there's no world chat system that allows you to talk to the entire world. The closest thing to that would be /shout, which just allows you to talk to people around your region.

Regarding the quest, The Black Shroud, the forest surrounding Gridiania, can be tough to navigate. All of the regions have upper and lower levels, and you'll have to look carefully for little ramps on the map to get between them.

When you're looking at the Gridania map, the lighter green means upper level, and the darker the lower levels. The ramps look like three-quarters of a circle usually. Sry I don't have a pic.

Black Shroud is torture. I would advise taking an airship to one of the other areas when you get the chance. I dont want to spend one minute in that place that I don't absolutely have to.

I'm one of the few who actually like the shroud. It took me a couple minutes to notice that light green is upper level and dark green is lower and there are spiral ramps connecting the two. After that I never have problems there ever. I honestly have more trouble in the Limsa area and that's mostly a game of connecting the U shapes that are tunnel entrances to where you want to go. Heck the Ul'dah area is a bit confusing where you have to enter the cavern areas and run tunnels to different areas, but it isn't a part of quests usually.

I too love Gridania and the Black Shroud. During the Beta i created a character in each city state, the i kept going back to the foresty area of the Black Shroud. (^_^ ) I even joined the Serpent Adders there.
