We could see him and Alisaie interact. She WAS trained by him after all.
After reading here it does seems like it makes more sense for Widargelt to not be involved.
I'm just wondering now about future interactions. Any particular NPC you wouldn't mind seeing?
I keep thinking there'll be something in the future that will really make the WOL mad and if he/she had been a Dark Knight, will briefly let out his/her inner 'Fray'.
While Widargelt is unlikely to get involved with anything MSQ related I could see Erik making an appearance at some point. You'd think he would have at least a word or two to say about what's going on in Ala Mhigo these days.

I would love to see a few more of the Job Characters show up in the main storyline. Although it really depends on the particular Job NPCs...some of them would be relatively easy to put in the main plot, but many others would honestly be pretty difficult. So I might bring up a few Jobs whose NPCs I would probably not expect to see in the MSQ...
Scholar: Not only are some of the most amusing ones Tonberries, and thus kill on sight in most areas of Eorzea, they also have a pretty insulated questline about Nym. Not much reason to unless we have a whole expansion based on the War of the Magi (which I wouldn't mind to be fair...)
Bard: I could see Sanson and Guydelot making a small cameo if we ever needed an important Gridanian military unit to show up, but other than that I don't see them making much of an impact on the plot. Their adventures are usually just fun little tales rather than epic world changing events anyway.
Black Mage: The Shadow of Mhcah storyline was probably the most important that Black Magic has ever been...and they didn't show up there. So I doubt they'll show up much elsewhere.

I'd also love to see more elaboration on the War of the Magi, especially Nym. Which seems to be isolated entirely to the SCH quests, as well as a few offhand mentions when people talk about the belligerents of the war. All the focus elsewhere seems to be on Amdapor and Mhach, to the point where I have no idea why Nym was even involved in the war in the first place.Scholar: Not only are some of the most amusing ones Tonberries, and thus kill on sight in most areas of Eorzea, they also have a pretty insulated questline about Nym. My vague impression was that Mhach was basically extra mean and sent the plague voidsent over to Nym for no reason other than to screw with them. Not for any tactical or strategic considerations, but entirely because Mhach wanted to be jerks.
Nym's involvement in the war seems to have been mainly defensive, although the 60-70 questline reveals that they did send at least one spy into Amdapor. Most of the SCH job description just seems to talk about what amazing defensive magi they are.I'd also love to see more elaboration on the War of the Magi, especially Nym. It's funny now that I think about it, but for having an entire job questline focused on Nym, we don't even get that much info on the nation itself. "Royal Marines" suggest that it was a monarchy... and that's about it.
