And don't forget, Yoshi has even said that there is no skipping a step if you have a completed 3.0 relic(as in a 275 Lux). So the grind is real for EVERYONE.
Yeah, but the idea that the event was fun because it involved special FATEs (still just FATEs) and Lightning is subjective. For example, I'm not someone who has played a lot of FF titles. I've always liked FF-related stuff, but I wouldn't consider myself a die-hard fan. I know almost nothing about FF13. So, for me, the Lightning event wasn't any different from any other FATE-based event. If anything, I didn't especially like Lightning as a cameo because her in-game model was creepy (her body proportions were way off compared to regular in-game models... she was overly skinny). I just did the event for more glamour options.
All that to say that not everyone is going to find the same events fun. And I'm sure there are fans of Youkai Watch who play this game and think that this event is cool simply for having their favourite character as a minion (for example). I get that the grind sucks, but the entire event is optional.
In the end, I am for any event that offers more (free) glamour options. More choice is always better than less.

Gotta admit this is the main reason why I'm not all that interested myself.
I'm really not a fan of Yokai. If it was Pokemon or Digimon then I'd go for it. Who wouldn't want a Pikachu or a Renamon following you around? They're cute!
The Yokai monsters just....I mean I guess they're supposed to be connected to Eastern myths, so I can see why that might have given them a foothold in Eastern markets, but for me they just look hideous and boring. That's just my personal opinion of course.
While I'm not joining in on the event, I am perfectly fine with others doing so. If people are having fun and enjoying it, then that's good. Yokai is just not my cup of tea.
It's an ugly mount anyway. Not sure why people are so fixed on it being exclusive.

I found the mount hysterical when I first saw it, but after earning it, chuckling a few times at how silly it looked to see my elf squished into it, it lost all luster since I don't like Yo-kai Watch, especially the annoying Whisper, either.
I wish we had more goofy mounts that fit into FF canon. Like the gloria airship you just sort of .... stand on.
Yes the CEO from Level 5 wanted it to be a harsh grind and that not everyone would get all weapons. Yet (and I know this was probably a scripted speech) he wanted it to come back because he himself did not manage to get all weapons..maybe that should have been a sign that its was way too much RNG?I kinda feel the problem is that the devs know they can't limit players to only a selection of the weapons due to their philosophy that you can play all jobs on one character. But somehow (perhaps by requested from Level 5?) they don't want to let players have everything. So in the end it became RNG plus FATE farming with price escalation.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
I think they were just poking fun at the community's opinion of it.
The Level 5 CEO wanted it to come back so he could promote his franchise some more.
Well, despite my prior statements, my support of this format is starting to wane.
Not because I've developed an aversion of FATEs or anything, but simply because even this wasn't enough to revitalize them for long.
First couple of days were great; multiple FATE groups for pretty much all of the zones and lots of people participating.
Less than a week in and the well has already dried up, so I'm typically back to soloing FATEs again, just as I was before the event started. :-/
It was pretty good for leveling while it lasted, but I guess I'm going to have to handle the slog past 40 (or to 40 for Monk) with solo FATEs. :-\
"But please. Call me Bae."
The White Witch of Okami Rojo.
Well some information showed that less people owned this minion then beat a certain savage raid (cant remember which one). Its kinda telling that a lot of people dont even bother with just the minions which are the easiest part of the grind. In the end this hopefully will be a good hint for SE that Fates are just not something a lot people like.
