    Food Effects

    Could it be possible Food stats were shown on its description or Help Text, make it easy to find out wich food gives what?.

    Also, wonder if SE could make it possible to make combo of food.... meant mix effects from certain foods if you eat them, not mixxin food stacking all the effects of like all food you find, but make lets say.... mix the effects of a drink with a Meat dish. or a salad with seafod dish, etc etc.

    I would like it if they fixed food in general. Since the patches I barely know what food does what anymore and I'm 50 culinarian! This is my favorite crafting class and I'm depressed at how little is being done to make it known what food does. I'm going off of my own personal experiences with my food and what I find on databases. That's not good for the game if people don't even know how to use the items in it~! (Also, I thought the recipe changes would mostly be geared towards Culinarian and other recipes that have far too many components. But here we are in 2012 and I still need 8 ingredients for some synths and people still don't know what food does. >.< )

    I'm looking for information as well. In an attempt to maximize Craftsmanship, I recently started serious research on the subject of food effects, and i have to admit I feel a bit sorry for not doing it earlier. Here's some stuff to examine:

    When it comes to FFXIV, i try to keep a cool head as much as possible, but I have to admit this whole matter makes me frown a bit.
    First, I always thought the "divine", "disagreeable", etc... messages were based on things such as discipline or race (probably out of XI veterancy, I know, baaad...) and it appears that I wasn't completely wrong, but I was shocked to see that food types had favored stats, with what i have to call an odd formula involving, for each type, one "base" stat and one "elemental" stat to receive maximum bonus (oh, so these messages were actually different bonus levels heh?).
    I'm sad to discover that I have been using food the wrong way for a whole year (since I never got any particular message at all, just thought my char didn't really like anything ), but I'm fine with admitting that I maybe should have paid more attention. But, since I never got any message it didn't occur to me there could be different effects with the same food.
    I can't shake the feeling it's overly complicated. Now don't get me wrong, I love me some mystery, superstition and untold game mechanics the community has to figure out (that's what made me love XI), and I'm even fine with the idea of adding some depth to the foodbuff system, but this feels nowhere near convenient, nor logical. I was discussing this with a friend who asked me "But then, I can either love or hate a food item just by changing class?" Yes, it looks that way...

    Second, the problem I have now is even though I understand (a bit late) how it all works, the stats we have now seem to have been greatly altered in recent patches, and that's only numerically-speaking. Simple example: the big numbers I see as a Level 50 whatever don't compare at all to the required ones for say, high-level food I see on the chart I gave earlier. I'm just wondering how it all works now, and simply IF it still does. I can't seem to find recent information on the subject, and yes, that scares me a bit. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Good stuff, been looking for something like this.

    The only food I really used was Tomato Pie when we do one of our ifrit thm burns due to the noticable reduction on resists. Good to know what else I can use for other stuff. Thanks for the links!

    I agree with my friend Suburp. The current system is not logical, it is too complicated, and it is sad to see players use food in the wrong way.

    Indeed. A simple fix would be to make the food item itself and the buff it gives you show the stats that it is currently enhancing. A creative solution to keep the mystery and allow the player to figure it out on their own however, would take a bit of brainstorming of which I do not wish to participate in at the moment due to my brain being filled with .NET and linear algebra.

    I think food descriptions are slated for 1.20b?

    Here is the reference.

    Although, I haven't heard anything about 1.20b recently, so they might have just been pushed back to 1.21.

    Apart from the obvious bits everyone's pointing out (with which I wholeheartedly agree), I find the OP's idea on mixing food and beverage to be really cool (and something like that was already on FFXI, even though drinks only gave regen/refresh effects).
    I was also thinking it would be really cool for chefs and alchemists alike, to be able to use materia as a sort of secret ingredient, to 'spice up' the foods, and give them extra bonuses.

    It would be sad to be left out of the materia stuff :/

    Nice ideas yeah, but right now all i really want is to know if the system works at all. Anybody saw delicious/tasty/disagreeable messages pop since 1.20?
