You can raid without a static, sure it is a bit more difficult and frustrating, but clearly not impossible.

This are the questions you need to ask yourself tho,

    1) do I want to raid via PF
    2) do I want to raid via RF/DF (if available and applicable ofc)
    3) do I want to join a FC
that might have a casual raid schedule, aka once a week or very casual

Because these points do matter, especially when you're asking about the job. Normally we always say, that you should be playing the job you enjoy the most, but let me try to explain this a bit, because raiding is a complete different aisle.

If you plan on using the party finder later on, you probably not going to raid as your favorite SAM because there are millions out there, and most groups don't take double/triple jobs. Having therefore always a other dps class to switch to, gives you more possible options. Best would be leveling a tank and healer because that just opens the golden doors to nearly every PF and even statics.

If you use RF/DF, then it wont matter because the system doesn't care what job it's throws together, and only looks for the tag (dps), hence you end up a lot in parties that have 3 bards, 3 blms, 3 mnks etc. But might take longer to acquire specific loot, since you are rolling "need" against 3-5 other people, not applicaable if it's something like omega regular that has a "token/page/book" system.

And while I personally love that system better then the actual PF, it will depend on the data center. If you are on a server, that is known to have a great data center backing it up, you will jump in and out of raid turns every week and have no problems/frustrations at all. But if you end up on some servers, that have a horrible data center in general, you will end up not getting anything done and probably quit.

There are some FC's/statics out there, that have a very casual take on raids, and due to their busy life they might raid once a week or even once every 2 weeks etc. That's nice if you just want to see the content, and maybe beat it at a much much lower pace, if even. This is not meant for people that actually want to participate in raiding but can't invest the time and don't want to go with DF/RF/PF. Here also, most of these groups even if absolute casual, won't take double/triple job layout.

Again you have to ask yourself, what am I looking for/at, and how much time/effort I am willing to spend. Do I have a 2nd/3rd dps job I could switch too, if I chose method 1? Would I be willing to level a tank or healer, giving me that option to applied to not just regular PF parties, but also maybe mid core statics with a more flexible schedule? The answer and path you chose is yours.
