This is untrue. As a DPS you have a lot of sway over the match, just not as much as the healer or the tank.
If DPS had no sway at all the few of us who climbed wouldn't have been able to.
I think many of us see the potential for misuse (just like we foresaw Quick Chat being misused), but it only stands to reason that because we see it, we try to keep ourselves above it. If you have to say anything, try to be constructive, don't instead lend validation to the misinterpretation that PvP is so toxic and full of harassment. And if you receive a nasty tell, don't reply, just ignore or report.

The problem is that the bulk of criticism we saw on primal during the time when chat was unrestricted were things like: You *&$^ing idiot L2H! Wtf are you stupid?! target the person I am you Retard! and *&^%ing great we got <insert job here> guess we *&#^ing lose then!... I don't pretend to know what things were like everywhere , but in hundreds of matches I never once saw constructive criticism used. Only character attacks and slander most likely born of infantile rage at not winning. Having experienced quick chat I have to believe there was a better option available, but as I stated i don't know how widespread the destructive bile that was pvp chat on primal was. Maybe we were stuck with quick chat because it was everywhere and was threatening to negatively effect the game from a business standpoint. It's extremely difficult to police morality across any activity though. Spammers existed then as well proving they are difficult to root out.
