When entering a Dungeon/Trial/EX/Raid through DF there should be a system to check if your wearing the correct gear for your job and that ALL your pieces of gear match the minimum ILvl. This will make dungeons smoother for everyone

For example, I did a trials roulette the other day and got Chrysalis which has a average item level of 90. The MT had a ilvl 55 sword and shield. Now imagine if you had 2 tanks with ilvl 55 weapons in a trial. Yeah have fun with that /logoff.

Not sure how well that would work, some people literally don't have any better gear, this change still would not fix people going in with bad gear unless they were just really forgetful. You'd be better off changing DF to force people to meet higher iLVL requirements and make a min dmg rating on weapon requirement. From the title I thought you were going to recommend some sort of Ready Check type system but it would check to see if anyone had broken or nearly broken gear. Now that would be pretty handy for sure.

Then they should go get better gear. As per the OP's example, there is absolutely no excuse to be doing i90 content with i55 equipment.

I want to agree with this but at the same time SE is so averse to restrictions I feel like it's a pipe dream.

I would love to never encounter a DRK using an ilvl 200 weapon in Doma Castle again though...

Ishgard has 115 weapons for sale even if you need someone to get them for you (Not sure if Ishgard still can't be accessed until post patch story).

Even if you're a fresh player there really is no excuse to not have something to show for it by the time you reach the end of patch 2.5's storyline when the game simply gives you five pieces of item level 90 gear after the lv50 job quest. An item level 120 shield is only 120 tomes while the sword is 380 totaling a max of 500 tomes that you shouldn't only be able to easily reach prior to the Chrysalis since you're getting first time bonus all the way through, but you should literally be swimming in tomes by the time you reach that point in the story.

Except they are talking about DF, if the person for whatever reason didn't bother to obtain the right kinds of equips but manages meet the iLVL requirement it's just going to equip the best of what they have. Now if we were talking about instead making the DF require you properly equip your character that is another matter all together. People don't accidentally equip bad gear, they pretty much just don't know any better. I've encounter many a player that somehow even though they should have had completely free gear that would more than suffice failed to obtain it or perhaps sold it can had the absolute bare min. they could get away with, many times missing slots entirely or having Dex rings where STR goes/etc. Short of retooling the DF to be significantly stricter there is no fix for the human element.

You're forgetting something far more important. By the time you've gotten to Chrysalis, the game has already supplied you with i110 gear from MSQ rewards, including weapons. There's no reason for a tank to have anything less than full Noct gear.

Which brings us to the topic at hand: if players can't be bothered to use the gear that's basically thrown at them, no system in the world will save them.

But you can get i270 weapons for like 700 Poe. You can buy i255 weapons anywhere. The quests leading into Doma hand out HQ weapons. There are so many options available, why are they so lazy?

Think part of the problem with DF and its minimum iLVL is you can cheese iLvl with accessories, for better for worst. Using OP's example, Tank could've met i90 requirement with a mix of i110- i120 accessories and mayybe belt, but have a i55 Sword, and well....with a i55 Sword you arent holding aggro against a Level Synched player lol.

Forcing a full iLevel check would, at least, make people who have apparently never looked at their gear rating before, to look at it.

Would have to make it where it couldn't be spoofed, as it has in the past, by wearing Crafting gear, or off-Job gear, to get past the screen...
