If nothing else, maybe allowing mentors to speak in the chat without limitations would be a wise move. Though they'd need to strip the status from those who do not behave constructively.

LOLLOLOL!!! Talk about an unnecessary conundrum right?! I'm still curious to see this "ABUNDANCE" of people complaining about too many buttons that SE HADDDDDD to make the change. At this point Third , we might have to develop some type of code two NICE JOBS mean healer go distract and become a decoy while the rest of us come in from behind. Three HELLOS mean save your ults fortarget 1,,, let me stop lol but uhm yea they have to figure out something and im sure they will ...we are just concerened about when. One thing that was brought up in "The New Chat Restriction in the Feast" was button bloat for having to add in all the quick chat macros.
Now, I've seen many people make the complaint that "PvP had too many buttons" before, which I've refuted, but in this case, we'll only be ramping back up to the "too many buttons" issue if they have to continuously add quick chat commands, and I don't think they're ever going to cover the full spectrum of situations which can, and often do occur during a match. This kinda brings things full circle and raises the question of whether it's really helpful or not, especially seeing how people have taken to spamming quick chat commands sarcastically to be negative (thus completely invalidating QC as a "fix" for that), and now twice over given the "too many buttons" complaint.
I am actually attracted to this idea... definitely not everyone goes out of their way to become a mentor and for those that put in allllllll that work to become one may not necessarily be so rash savage and toxic to have the potential of their title revoked and back to not being able to speak... Cool idea to play around with...im sure some one will come up with the WHAT IF scenarios to counter this, but definitely a good start somewhere in terms of throwing out some ideas.

I also quite like this idea. I think it would be better designed if there was a specific Mentor status for Feast that's given to people who achieved Diamond or Platinum tier and above. This way, people who talk actually have experience and the mods/admins or whatever monitor a smaller amount of people for toxicity.I am actually attracted to this idea... definitely not everyone goes out of their way to become a mentor and for those that put in allllllll that work to become one may not necessarily be so rash savage and toxic to have the potential of their title revoked and back to not being able to speak... Agreed, this idea sounds like a good solution.I also quite like this idea. Well Guys I think Theodric actually came up with something to play around with in a positive direction for sure. I def like the addition made by Trinket in regards to the tiers and it giving mentors more importance ! I'm curious as to what others have to say to this as well as addI also quite like this idea. Honestly, I like like this. Fewer players and more dedicated ones sound on board, though those mentors may want to help one another by being a part of a player-made community to try to send a unified message, and establish a rulebook of content between one another - something that can't really be done with the PvE mentor system.Well Guys I think Theodric actually came up with something to play around with in a positive direction for sure. It should be understood that these players will likely be held to a higher standard than the average conduct of player, but I think the added importance of the rank (I'd say reserve it to Diamond, just given how many Diamond and Plat players there are already) will make them take it seriously and professionally.
I really like this compromise.
The only problem is the actual players that need help the most are un-ranked/bronze which most diamond/plat players would never get matched up together with in the first place. I also wonder how many would actually being willing to help rage-free and rewards-free.I also quite like this idea. there are people willing to do that and are probably doing it, if the new player refuses the help or tips it is his problem

Oh wow.. he plays splatoon? love to see what he got there. Anyways I am shocked, with those 2 games maps are carefully designed with the different weapons in mind giving each type something to use. Here it is just BRD it up because range is so strong vs melee here, I doono how you can go far with balance issues. Also I am wondering if he takes note how much nonverbal communication can take place in splatoon where here it is " here is 8 players or 24 and you may not even get a healer, GL!"It is hard to tell what people are really going for with the useless ping messages here.Q: As a final question, outside of FFXIV PvP, what is your favorite playerversus player game currently?
Naoki Yoshida: I had only been playing Overwatch lately since I was focused on releasing 4.0, and couldn’t take much time to play games. I did finally start to play Splatoon 2 though. I want to play PUBG (PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS) too but I’m a bit hesitant, because I feel like I’ll become too engulfed by it and that it might actually interfere with our development! [laughs] I wonder if it’s okay for me to take that kind of time to play once we pass our fourth anniversary…?

My feedback is to bring normal chat back. This connection is so.. THIS:Q: Players are still having a hard time communicating properly in solo queue. While quick chat features help, it still doesn’t accommodate the proper communication that needs to occur to help grow the PvP community, especially with new players. While a few players present toxic behavior may discourage others, being unable to properly communicate seems to discourage players even more, due to being unable to advance strategies and grow the meta with proper coordination. Can we expect some form of bringing back feast chat in the near future for those who could utilize it properly?
Naoki Yoshida: I completely understand that it would be better for advanced PvP players to be able to use full chat functions. However, the data clearly shows that a greater number of new players have joined the content after we removed chat functions—this is a fact that we cannot dispute. From this, we can tell how much harsh language was becoming an impediment to new players and hurting their participation. I believe that this change is something that is inevitable not only for FFXIV, but for all PvP games. On the other hand, it might be good to bring back full chat functions for custom matches and random 4 vs 4 practice matches, outside of ranked matches, as it would allow for players to discuss and develop deeper strategies. It is possible to separate chat functions between ranked matches and practice matches, so it would be great if we can continually receive feedback on this!

GERO! came out the same time as quick chat if I remember correctly, plus SB release and the new PvP changes OFC THERE IS GOING TO BE INCREASED participation!!! A new expansion increases activity in everything, you even see it in MB sales. I am sure WT helped a bit as well. Even though I hate the no chat, ill do a WT feast match because it is quick and rather do that then a 24 man no one queues for, or whatever.

Yep, it did nothing to change the toxicity, I would argue it is worse now because you can't tell people what can be done to change a loss to a win.Just. Bring. Chat. Back.
Please.
Quick chat spam is far more toxic than anything I experienced before. "Nice job! Nice job! Nice job! Nice job! Hello. Nice job! ***** marks you as target to ignore 1. ***** marks you as target to ignore 2". It's easier to press and spam a single button over and over than it is to type out insults. Besides, WHY do we even have stuff like "Nice job!" "Good match!" "Hello." if your aim is to 'remove toxicity'. No-one puts these on their hotbars for the sake of genuinely nice jobbing someone unless it's at the end of the match and you've won -- in which case, your win is enough proof you did a decent enough job.
This has been suggested 1000 times already. Bring chat back -- those who are toxic/rude, warn them. 3 warnings - they can only use quick chat. Problem solved.
