Naoki Yoshida: I had only been playing Overwatch lately since I was focused on releasing 4.0, and couldn’t take much time to play games. I did finally start to play Splatoon 2 though. I want to play PUBG (PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS) too but I’m a bit hesitant, because I feel like I’ll become too engulfed by it and that it might actually interfere with our development! [laughs] I wonder if it’s okay for me to take that kind of time to play once we pass our fourth anniversary…?

Oh wow.. he plays splatoon? love to see what he got there. Anyways I am shocked, with those 2 games maps are carefully designed with the different weapons in mind giving each type something to use. Here it is just BRD it up because range is so strong vs melee here, I doono how you can go far with balance issues. Also I am wondering if he takes note how much nonverbal communication can take place in splatoon where here it is " here is 8 players or 24 and you may not even get a healer, GL!"It is hard to tell what people are really going for with the useless ping messages here.

Can we expect some form of bringing back feast chat in the near future for those who could utilize it properly?

Naoki Yoshida: I completely understand that it would be better for advanced PvP players to be able to use full chat functions. However, the data clearly shows that a greater number of new players have joined the content after we removed chat functions—this is a fact that we cannot dispute. From this, we can tell how much harsh language was becoming an impediment to new players and hurting their participation. I believe that this change is something that is inevitable not only for FFXIV, but for all PvP games. On the other hand, it might be good to bring back full chat functions for custom matches and random 4 vs 4 practice matches, outside of ranked matches, as it would allow for players to discuss and develop deeper strategies. It is possible to separate chat functions between ranked matches and practice matches, so it would be great if we can continually receive feedback on this!
My feedback is to bring normal chat back. This connection is so.. THIS:

GERO! came out the same time as quick chat if I remember correctly, plus SB release and the new PvP changes OFC THERE IS GOING TO BE INCREASED participation!!! A new expansion increases activity in everything, you even see it in MB sales. I am sure WT helped a bit as well. Even though I hate the no chat, ill do a WT feast match because it is quick and rather do that then a 24 man no one queues for, or whatever.

Now, I've seen many people make the complaint that "PvP had too many buttons" before, which I've refuted, but in this case, we'll only be ramping back up to the "too many buttons" issue if they have to continuously add quick chat commands, and I don't think they're ever going to cover the full spectrum of situations which can, and often do occur during a match. This kinda brings things full circle and raises the question of whether it's really helpful or not, especially seeing how people have taken to spamming quick chat commands sarcastically to be negative (thus completely invalidating QC as a "fix" for that), and now twice over given the "too many buttons" complaint.
    So this

    Please.

Quick chat spam is far more toxic than anything I experienced before. "Nice job! Nice job! Nice job! Nice job! Hello. Nice job! ***** marks you as target to ignore 1. ***** marks you as target to ignore 2". It's easier to press and spam a single button over and over than it is to type out insults. Besides, WHY do we even have stuff like "Nice job!" "Good match!" "Hello." if your aim is to 'remove toxicity'. No-one puts these on their hotbars for the sake of genuinely nice jobbing someone unless it's at the end of the match and you've won -- in which case, your win is enough proof you did a decent enough job.

This has been suggested 1000 times already. Bring chat back -- those who are toxic/rude, warn them. 3 warnings - they can only use quick chat. Problem solved.
Yep, it did nothing to change the toxicity, I would argue it is worse now because you can't tell people what can be done to change a loss to a win.
