What I know, is I tried to played Black Mage during season 1 and 2, and I stopped because of the chat.
    I didn't even tried season 3.
With the removal of the chat, I came back and did season 4 entirely and finished top 100.

I know, sometimes real talk could help the team, but I have no faith in EU PVP community to hold his tongue and be capable to not injure/discourage/diminish other players.

The old chat don't need to come back, or if it come, add a report system too (like in Paragon).

My guess is that they don't have the staff to properly regulate competitive chat.

Honestly that's a problem worldwide and I find it interesting for a company to finally take a harder stance on the matter and say. "You know what? No. You can't self regulate and we don't have the manpower to babysit you lot. We're taking this feature away and circumventing the bulk of the problem. "

To which I personally say kudos and curtly as the community if it REALLY thinks its mature enough, or if it will fall into the rut of harassment an peer pressure again.

If they can honestly monitor the pettiest of behaviours such as that, they can monitor people being jackasses in chat and simply ban them/force them to use quickchat as a punishment.
"How DARE you try and make your team attack the 10 stack tank that's deep in your own base and could melt with a single Fire IV!? You're banned!"

The toxicity in PvP is still there. All removing chat does is keep the casual players ignorant of it. This is going to kill PvP eventually, but as long as SE doesn't take PvP seriously I guess it doesn't matter.

Seeing that premade feast is making comeback does it really matter if they give chat back in solo or not? i mean i always saw solo que as same as quick match is for other genres. If you want to take feast seriously in future then go for that static pvp and leave solo for those who might have not time for super serious pvp. Also CM allows some neat community made tournaments so there is that too and i hope it will ignite some server vs server rivalry :P

ITT: People will literally defend SE over anything.

"with chat enabled I was a bad but without chat I suddenly got top 100"

Or maybe with the removal of chat a lot less people played at the higher tiers because what was the point

Your ignorant if you think I am blindly defending SE here. Just because I agree with the sentiment that pvp communities without fail have a toxicity level warranting a scorched earth approach doe not mean I think the development beyond criticism.

Thst would be like me equating you condoning toxic behavior simply because you don't agree with SE's methods. Please have a more neauanced argument.

Apologies for the errors as I am on a phone keyboard. Overall I believe we as a community fail to acknowledge our responsibility to improve the community and curb toxic behavior. We even acknowledge that it continues yet point at it as an argument to do less or shift the blame onto the game designers.

I say if we cannot stop ourselves collectively from curbing the behavior similar to that of spoiled children, then all developers, not just se, should have the right to treat us as such. I acknowledge that this is cynical, however complacency, I feel is the larger error.

All Square seems to care about is how many people are playing. It shouldn't be on the playerbase to be punished for those who act out, it should be the developer who deals with them the proper way.

I've been playing PvP and other such types of games in different genres for years. The toxicity will never end. All quick chat functions as is a band-aid.

If you want to believe that the toxicity of chat is the issue that's fine.

However if people aren't kept in line things wind up like that.

Fighting other players by nature winds up being toxic because no one has good sportsmanship anymore.

This isn't going to go away simply because of chat ban. People are going to find other ways to defame and spread hate.

Less of of a bandaid and more of a muzzle. SE claims that 'muzzle' is effective. People here are disputing it, but at the same time proving it true. (See the 'I got warned for spamming quickchat' complaint. )

People are tolerating the muzzle more than the howling dogs. Excessive uae of quickchat can be reported and responded to. I'd argue they refine and improve the current system than ditch it.

As far as addressing the cheating. I agree they should do more even knowing the logistics nightmare it is.
