Honestly looks like its just a driver problem with most Nvidia cards, as most people with ATI cards are saying they aren't having issues. On the bright side, by turning down my texture filtering to low and making everything look terrible my GPU usage only goes from 20% up to 97% when I run through the tree now!!!!

I don't think I have this issue but I have an ATI 5770 as well and it has always run pretty hot when I play FF14. Over the summer it started making some pretty ugly whirring sounds and it was just a matter of very thoroughly cleaning out some dust. I put in a bunch of extra fans to try to keep it cool but the card just runs very hot. Idling at 44 C and runs the game at about 70-75 C after a few hours of play, depending on the temperature of the room. Over the summer because my air conditioning sucks, it was getting above 90 C and making the noise that caused me to take it apart and remove a bunch of dust. That helped tremendously, but I think I am going to do some shopping around for a better card when I get my tax return...
