No, look behind you the next time you enter the dungeon, the entrance is literally the metal gate the alliance broke a hole through, the entire path up to the first boss takes place in the city, then after the first boss you enter the palace.

So was Ala Mhigo, it even had a concept art from before ARR launch like all the other cities. Now for some reason we are gonna spend 3-4 patches fixing up Ala Mhigan politics without being allowed into the city, whatever sense that makes.

I think garlemald itself will be an indoor citadel to protect against the harsh weather. Kinda like an indoor ishgard with magitek stuff everywhere with transporters instead of aetherytes.
It could quite easily be inspired by Midgar if that is the case. I'm looking forward to seeing what a Garlean expansion brings us - though I have no interest in seeing the place invaded. It'd be much more satisfying to have a reason to make peace with Garlemald and work with it for the sake of dealing with a greater threat.
As far as Ala Mhigo itself is concerned? That it's a dungeon does not bother me - though there should definitely be the ability to enter it in a future patch. Preferably without the 'solo phasing' so that role-players can interact with one another there.
Honestly, SB zones felt boring in general. Anyway, looking at Ala Mhigo's inside from above, it looked so...unfinished. I do hope it's accessible (and actually interesting-looking) in the upcoming patches but I'm not sure what purpose it'll fulfill aside from story and I'm not really counting on it. Same for Doma, but I have hopes that the enclave gets repaired at least? That and the fact that the quarter we were allowed to visit was honestly pretty boring :/
It would have felt less dissapointing if there were more npcs to talk to and more diversity in the streets and actual houses you can enter. The layout there is fun, with all the roofs you can climb, but walking around that place just felt kind of dull. I hope even if they turn a city into a dungeon again, that we can at least explore a more exciting part of it.
I like the idea.

I'd rather something similar to Esthar City in FF8![]()
