A simple way to make a little starting out Gil

I've been taking advantage of lazy people and just going to The Goblet and buying stuff from the Material Supplier (10.9-8.9)

He sells all kinds of stuff, I was able to make decent Gil from buying Iron Ingots, and Undyed Cotton Cloth, and selling them on the market board.

Give it a try if you're awful at making Gil.

Reselling vendor items is an awesome source of gil if you take the time to research what's selling and what's not and keep on top of it daily. I'm a fully-capable omnicrafter, yet I don't tend to craft for profit because vendor resales are just so quick and profitable. If you do some research into the correct markets for the moment, rate of turnover for most good-to-resell vendor items are insanely high. Sometimes I'll go to restock my vendor resales, do so, and then a few will sell before I even leave the zone. I can make anywhere from 500k-3mil gil per day from just vendor resales, averaging close to 1.3 mil. That's profit, not revenue.

Granted, vendor items or no, this isn't free profit. There's a pretty strong time investment. That 1.3 mil I make per day might take me an average of half an hour per day. I do initial market research on a selection of vendor items I want to resell, which can take half an hour in and of itself. I take notes of good items to sell. Literally take notes. I then buy a stock of those items and start selling. I restock twice per day I play - once when I log in, once before I log off. When I restock, I also update all my listed item's prices. As the days after my initial market research pass, I slowly remove items from my list of good items to sell once their price falls below a certain threshold compared to their cost. Once my list grows small enough, I commit to some fresh market research to repopulate it and the process then repeats itself.

It's worth noting that vendor item markets are extremely volatile. They could be at an extremely good price with very high turnover and almost no one selling them one day, then be flooded with posts at a fraction of the price with absolutely no sales of that item for the next few days. This will sometimes happen to your own item, too, so there is a level of risk involved. You'll need to constantly monitor the markets you're playing in if you want to make vendor resales really work for you, and you'll want to avoid buying a large stock of one item assuming it'll all be easy profit.

All in all, it's best to consider vendor resales an alternative way to make gil than farming or crafting. It's an exceptionally good method to make gil for new players who may not yet have their crafts leveled or have no interest in crafting or gathering, since all it requires is a little capitol, some research, and some patience.
