Because then they have to support VR indefinitely which is going to be a constant resource usage. What's the ROI here? Also this game is based on clicking buttons to do fancy abilities. That's both disorienting and feels completely unnatural in VR.

That sci-fi anime version have headgears capable to send signals directly to the brain, while our reality is just an helmet with stereoscopic vision and audio.
The only damages you can get may be the audio too loud (for ears) and the known photosensitive epilepsy that may happen even on our usual monitors.
About XIV as VRMMO, I think it is more likely we will get in the future a new FF title tailored for it, because XIV wasn't made for VR and adaptation of a game to things they are not planned from the start, aren't that good (and simple) as something done with VR in mind from the start. Just think at flying, new maps have it but adaptation of old maps to flying is something the devs are thinking about, but requiring much work and even them dunno if it will ever be made.
isn't that ff14 already have first person view since the first time?

It does, but its not the same as VR, since it turns the game into a 3d Game combined with the ability to turn your head and 3D audio, it really puts you into the game like your really there. First person view can't do that it just makes me feel like I'm looking through moving painting.

White mage casts Holy.
Everyone with VR is blinded for life.

If they do that I want an HD texture back.
I wouldn't recommend VR with deferred rendering. Lack of proper AA will kill your eye sight.
