Can the Warrior of Light have some emotion? Better dialog options.

One thing I been noticing from the game is the Warrior of Light tends to be a mindless drone. I like we are one of the Garlean Empire robots. Someone says something and we are quick to get like 3 dialog options. 2 mindless good guy option and the .... being the closes we have to being human.

We have seen many people in the story so emotion. The Scions have show many great deals of emotions. Heck even the kinda hearted Y'shtola has shown anger here and there. It like the Dark Knight level 45 quest was the closes we ever got to having emotion It really one of my favorite quest in the game as it add some depth to our characters. I think a lot of us would like more options for personal development.

I was so hoping with the dark themes of Stormblood. We would have more emotion in out characters story. Sadly the only real good dialog I say was me telling the Scion this is not my war. The look on everyone face when I pretty much told them to sod off.

I would say just do away with dialogue options in general and give them an actual male/female voice and be done with it. It's not like the options matter that much.

Except they cant do that because it means you lose personalization with dialogue - if you notice that the scenes that are voiced the player's character is never acknowledged by name, simply with non personal titles like "you", "the adventurer", "the Warrior of Light", the "Champion" etc, so the player would be restricted to be entirely identified as such throughout the entire game by npcs who are supposedly close to them (this is why also modern FF games do not have the ability that older FF games had where you could name the player's party whatever you liked - it was the price that was paid for having voiced cutscenes).

And given most of the voiced dialogue is often in the "so bad it's good" category, I prefer the approach they're currently taking and do not really wish for them to change. It's one of those situations where you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Let's also not forget that the player character has 168 possible voice sets to choose from, once you tally up all the race/gender options (and clan in the case of Hyurs), and I'm relatively (though not completely) sure that those voice sets are all the "Japanese" versions by default no matter what language you play in (as in, the voice sets aren't redone for each different language). To give the PC a voice in cutscenes, you'd either have to a) record each line of dialog a total of 168 times to go with each voice set (which would likely also involve redoing each voice set from scratch to make everything match across languages), or b) give each race/gender one voice for cutscenes that wouldn't necessarily match your chosen emote voice set.

I am just thinking we should have more options when we get the option to pick something. The mindless hero options are bit boring and does not make sense. Then again Nero is quick to call us morons. Maybe he is right. After all we seem to have no regard for our own life. Even though we learned how bad our would would get if we died. Lol Oh if I die our would is destroyed. So I will go take on Zenos. Oh crap he almost killed me. Well no big deal. *Facepalms." Yes our character has no reaction to seeing Y'shtola morally wounded. I know I wanted a raging hatred reaction. With Zeons just laughing at us. No reaction to us almost dying but some luck Zenos sword breaks. After the stuff we learned from the WoD arc. We should be terrified and angry. Angry that our friend is hurt. Terrified as Zenos came close to destroying our world.

I think voice action would kill this game. We all have an idea on how are Warrior of Light will sound. I know for a fact they will not be able to give us that. Which will make us grow to hate our character. Let not forget voice acting cost money. With the PC normally having the most lines. They tend to hire cheaper voice actors for the main character. Which is shows in many games. Do you not remember Tidus? His voice acting was as pleasant as nails on a chalkboard.

I am sure more people would leave the game from PC voice acting then it would bring in.

The mindless protagonist is a pretty standard feature of a bunch of rpgs. It's why these games typically provide support characters that basically act like our voice for us. I'd guess about half the games I've played had a silent main character. The idea is, obviously, self insertion (giggity), letting you interpret your own reactions, so that most players can sorta see themselves as the main character. Doesn't work too well for players that expect every character, including mc, to be at least somewhat fleshed out, wanting to experience well written characters/stories. But, you can't please everybody.

It true you can not please everyone. Guessing I am just sick with the mindless good guy dialog options and like half to cutscenes you character has a deer in headlights look. I end up laughing so much at some part of the cutscenes causemy character looks so stupid with the blank staring off into space look on her face.

I am just tired of the constant head nodding our character does every time we are told to do something. I can see during class and crafter quests they are attempting to switch it up a bit, but it wouldn't hurt to use other emotes as well to express our confirmation.

/me or even a /thumbs up here and there would be a nice change of pace xD
