If the client crashes it's often due to damaged files/sectors. You can try running chkdsk to fix the errors or install the game again.

Is it a c00005 crash, or is it the message you get when you alt-tab and the game closes even though you didn't actually alt tab? If it's the alt tab crash, odds are something like your antivirus software in the background is stealing application focus from the game and causing it to crash (practically anything with a popup notification will do this).

If you say it's on the dot-ish every 2hrs, I'm thinking you might be overheating. Dust out your case or even play with the side panel open (do replace it if you have pets after you're done...). See if you can add some (or replace with better) case fans / use a laptop cooler (like the ones with a giant 200mm fan blowing through a grill to your laptop).

If it is not a temperature issue, it might be bad sectors in the HDD or bad memory. Get Hiren's Boot CD and use the software in it to do a diagnostic.

If that's still not the case then it might be software based. I don't mean just FFXIV. A reinstall might help, weather it's just the game or your entire Windows OS. Many programs have access to Windows OS settings and over the life of the computer settings could have been changed and made certain software incompatible with others. Rather than mussing about, a reinstall is the easiest way of ironing out that sort of problems.

    Good Luck!
