    Scholar Level 60 Quest Help

    Good morning all

I started by doing the Scholar job quests and was doing OK, then i got the Level 60 quest and got ever so slightly annoyed with it.

Unless i am mistaken my job is to Esuna the NPCs so they don't die from the plague, along with keeping them alive and also killing the small adds that spawn (which i was kind of doing with Bio/Miasma on the big add and BANE to the smaller ones).

Well that's what i thought, i'm around ilvl 140 on the summoner with mainly 58+ gear and struggle keeping the NPC up when he is taking damage, also not being able to track them without clicking on them is hard and then end up having 2 or 3 dots on them for too long.

Is there any advice (apart from forget it and stick to levelling the Summoner ) you can give me to help, also is there anyway to have multiple focuses so i could maybe see all NPCS at once?

Also, my pet doesn't seem to do much to them, i guess because they are not in my party?

    Thx!

The ilevel of your gear is very low for level 60. You could farm poetics tomestomes to obtain the ilevel 260 weapon followed by 260 Shire gear obtainable from the the npc in Idyllshire. This gear is upgradable to i270 with additional poetics tomestomes and will last you till level 64-65 if you run dungeons. Another option is to buy crafted level 60 gear from the market board, but this gear has lower ilevel (I forget the ilevel, it maybe 240-250). There may also be npcs that sell level 60 gear (again much lower ilevel than the Shire gear); however, I don't remember which city they are in. You could probably do an internet search, or maybe someone in the forums here will pipe up and assist.

    Thanks!

I had Tomes, lots of them but i bought and upgraded the full set for my Summoner, so he is sat at 269 and i did ponder doing the same for Scholar just to cheese it. But given i have never really healed much i wondered if there was something i was doing really wrong so came here for some tips.

I'm definitely going to farm some tomes for a full set of at least 260 which should help, might keep trying in the meantime but do you think given my ilvl im just causing more stress to do the near impossible for a very much noob healer?

The ilevel of the gear matters a lot, you will notice a huge difference in the damage and healing power. The healer job quests often requires quite a bit of dps from the healer in addition to healing, and that's where the ilevel will make a significant difference. Don't forget to put cleric stance on your hotbar to toggle between dpsing and healing, this could also help a lot in the quests that require you to dps as a healer.

    Great, thanks for the advice!

I hadn't chosen Cleric Stance as one of my Actions, so i will give that a go, will try once more and then just farm tomes i reckon!

Tbh, this quest was designed with typical mix of quest / dungeon gear in mind and pretty doable even in i120 gear. Just slower. So yes, check/Esuna your NPCs often (iirc there was some visual indication of plague attack and it happens around 1/minute), heal and DPS inbetween the first two.

    Did it!

2nd attempt today, set one of the ones to focus target and the DPS i could get in was much higher than previous.

    Happy days, thanks

Not for a brand new level 60. The very best gear one can have at level 59 is ilvl 148, so a brand new level 60 won't have better than that. The i260/i270 gear did not even exist when 3.0 (and the level 60 class quests) was first released.

Considering that the level 60 class quests currently give a full set of i210 left-side gear as a reward, one can safely assume that people are not expected to have better than that when doing the class quests.

I did this at i145. So gear was not your issue. I already had my i200 AF gear, but told myself that if I want to wear it, I have to complete my lv60 job quest to earn the right to do so.

I also knew I would faceroll it in my AF and wanted the challenge!

Looks like you completed it. Congrats! The fight is basically a heal and dps check. You can't heal your way out of this one
