What happened to PLD's macuahuitl?

With the recent inclusion of the giant spiked bat for DRK, I remembered that PLD also had a similar style of weapon in the macuahuitl. Upon looking for one, however, I quickly discovered that there were actually none of them available after the ilvl 52 version. Instead, there were countless variations of swords. Long, short, curved... But no macuahuitl, at all. Unlike the daggers that were removed for NIN, they still exist. But there hasn't been a new one for more than an entire expansion. Can we get a new one? Preferably primal themed? At least for a change from the pile of swords?

DRKs got sword that is not sword. Macuahitl, while being a wooden-obsidian, still a sword. Soo...
lets wish for something that is not sword. Nunchucks, for example. ^_^

The weapons they Pulled for nin actually do still exist. Nins use them for Leveling 1-49. But it's probably because it is leftover from 1.0. They figured let's stick to traditional swords. Maybe the reason they haven't given anything to pld similar to the drk spiked club is because they intend to use maces for one of the new jobs down the road. And drk got that one because they don't intend to use large 2 handed clubs at any point, possibly.

There's currently six in game, but they haven't made any since ARR. So, they might bring them back at some point, maybe for the "new world" expansion. For now though, they're just an odd quirky sword that Paladins and Gladiators can use. Really great for a tribal protector Miqo'te though.
