Game controller goes crazy on PC

What do you mean by crazy? I use a Xbox One controller, and sometimes when hitting a button, another spell will also trigger. Like hitting directional down will also trigger B for some reason.

But I've chalked it out to be a fault in the controller.

Do you use Steam? That tries to force its own button configuration, sometimes causing your buttons to have 2 things mapped onto them at once if the game is already compatible with controllers outside of Steam. You can hit the Xbox guide button while playing to dig into Steam controller settings and set things to a standard dualstick controls.
