Are you, perchance, accidentally trying to glamour the Emperor's New Earrings with the look of your actual earrings rather than the other way around? If I had to guess, I'd guess that.
I received this error once trying to glamour the Shire gear to Shisui gear, when they are the same item level. For the life of me I could not figure out why.
