    hate having to start every chat with pounding on the spacebar. i have a controller, I have a keyboard - worked fine in FFXI but still cant get them to work together well in FFXIV

    Config > Keyboard and turn on Chat-specific keyboard. Now you just have to start typing to... start typing.

    if you turn chat spec keyboard on that solves that problem.
