    Keep instanced content for people who want that, because the option is nice- but give us something more challenging, with greater longevity, to work towards. World-spawning HNM with very high degrees of difficulty would be a perfect addition.

    How about BCNMs like in FFXI? Gather items to gain entrance (R/E items) to a instanced battle (solo to full party) that drops both R/E and sellable gear. Heck, could twist in the achievement system/titles to it.

    Did you not read he OP? We want competition between players and linkshells, there is none of that in what you just said.

    Edit: I'm not saying BCNM type content is bad, it just isn't endgame content. Especially the endgame content most/some hardcores want to see.

    maybe its just me, but I dont think people do endgame content for titles and achievements.

    Somehow I don't think we'll get world spawns for competition, seeing as every hnm player played the claim bot game. They also said they were going back to the zones instead of seamless world, so wouldn't be surprised if the new dragon's aery was an instanced 6/12/18 lv50 or whatever player zone.

    I did like the kings and 3-5 day spawn nms though, not against it, just don't see it happening here.

    I expected this post to be nuked before 8 posts accumulated, forums a while ago were pretty much against anything that required some effort on the players end.

    I liked the OP because it asks for harder stuff and I'm always up for that, even if I think the points it tries to make are kind of "disjointed" (my word of the day). Plus I'm not sure my definition of a hardcore enjoyable fight is anywhere near the same as the OP's (I enjoy complex mechanics challenging group coordination, which are resistant to attempts by players to trivialize them not simple gear checks/burn fights though a few of those are acceptable).

    As an endgame aficionado I am only currently playing due to a series of comments made by Matsui and Yoshida hinting at very promising endgame activities in the future. I don't feel like finding them but they were part of the interviews they did and went something like this:

    Yoshida: Yes we plan to introduce alliance content however we would like for that content to be more challenging and involving than simply slapping more HP, attack, and defense on current mobs to warrant an alliance of players attacking it so we are holding off until the mechanics in place to design such encounters are ready.

    Matsui: We are taking a big risk introducing the current crop of endgame encounters while the battle system is not finalized.

    From those I gather these are not even close to the difficulty we can expect in the future and are instead characterized by a few gimmicks which enable the dev's to simulate a challenge (which I think should be reassuring to people who struggle with Moogle/Ifrit as well as the issues they have with such gimmicks largely caused by lag may not be an issue for them in the future).

    As for overland competition I am hoping the 2.0 version of primals with their free company unlock-able summons will fill that need nicely.

    About those 24hr timer HNM you mentioned. They are trigger popped now. No timers, and no camping involved. Same for endgame content right now, short repop timers for monsters and trigger pops. If your idea of endgame competitiveness involves lots of waiting and camping then I'll have to pass on that idea.

    I'm going to be optimistic and say we'll see more cool things when jobs and 2.0 launches. I'm just going to wait and see.
