Sound imput issues/ How to change sound input wihtout closing the game completely?

So I have installed a live steam program for console games, and the sound capture likes to default having everything use this input. So If I boot up the game without closing it because I forget to. I have to go alt /ctrl/ delete, shut the sound capture off that way, THEN restart the game so it is not feeding the sound input though it.

I am tried of loging off because entering complex passwords is a pain just because of something that should be able to be done in game? surely I am missing something?

Sadly, XIV still lacks the ability to change sound settings in game.

And fun fact: if you're logged into XIV (on Windows10, at least) and you logout, the game has a critical audio error and crashes.

I've been on windows 10 since release and i've never had this issue :P Sounds like you need to update your drivers.

There is currently no way to change audio without a 3rd party program for windows.

I have been playing for two years and this hasn't happened to me even once.

This would actually be sound output, since it is output from the computer. Sound input would be something like a microphone.

My pc is hooked up to 3 different sets of speakers. I do have it set to a default, but because of the way the stereo receiver registers it can actually generate a new location (don't know why). But if i start the game and change to VSX-C from VSX-B the game will crash 100% of the time.

Audio handling is just non-existant in XIV, it uses whatever the default is, keeps stuck there, and if for some reason the output no more avail, as example when my bluetooth headphones run out of battery, the game will freeze and you need to kill it from console.

The strangest thing is that the Mac client does not have this problem at all. I freely switch between speakers and headphones all the time, sometimes in mid fight - the client just uses whatever the current systemwide output device is, which I switch with a dropdown in the menu bar.

I wonder if it has to do with the wrapper SE uses to package the Windows client for Mac users. Could this system somehow be reversed or extracted for Windows users?

This is one issue that's way overdue imo... It's quite ridiculous a AAA game of this day and age still requires the player to reset the game when they switch audio source or force to use a 3rd party app.
