    Beckon of the Elementals

When youre fighting the Spirit of The Wood, it makes no sense on what youre suppose to be doing.

I'm not sure what you mean, I did it just yesterday and it seemed pretty clear to me.

    **spoiler**

Kid burns down tree because he doesn't believe the elementals are real,
Elementals are already pissed off because of all the greenwrath lately (hence the preparations for the ritual),
Moogles try to calm the elementals but ultimately fail and tell you to run away,
Spirit of the Wood attacks you and you defend yourselves, ultimately killing the spirit (which obviously makes the elementals even more upset).

As for the fight itself, the goal is just to kill the spirit with the help from the friendly NPCs. Every 20% health or so, the Spirit changes its elemental properties (changing its resistances and the spells it casts at you).

After the first 30 seconds or so, you can talk to O-App and pick an element, and he will cast a buff on you that makes you much more resistant to that element, however I found that talking to him mid-combat is a bad idea and the Spirit will probably kill you while you're talking to him. As a PGL I found it best to just ignore him entirely and beat the Spirit to death.

Obviously strategies differ per class, but I completed this as an 18 PGL solo. It was challenging (I tried it twice at 16 and got him to about 30% before failing), but very doable. The trick was to not rush in and try to tank him myself, I started by casting Protect on both archers and the lancer, and the Spirit beat on the lancer and killed both archers (they have very low health). Once the Lancer was at about 50% health I ran in and started beating on the Spirit. I didn't bother casting any DD spells since I only had Aero equipped and the spirit changed elements too often to make it worthwhile, so I just chained combos together and kept myself alive with Second Wind and the occasional Cure while me and the lancer NPC whittled it down. I certainly wasn't wearing the best gear available to me, if I was (and had skills like Sentinel and Stoneskin and Shell unlocked) I probably could have killed it while I was still level 16.

If you're still having trouble with it, play around with your cross class skills, update your gear a bit, and level a few more times, though I admit one of my deaths was because I was just trying to figure out what O-App was for.
