First world problems

I only have ARR Base game. I am on new server which give 100% more exp. I hit level 50 on my PLD and completed my class quest chain but way behind on my MSQ (still on lvl 30 quest and only killed the first primal). I also want to level a WAR as well. Given this what is my best options?

1. Buy the expansion and power through to level 70 on the PLD?

2. Forget about the expansions, start a WAR and make best use of the 100% exp since I don't know when that buff will end?

Any other ideas?

I know these are first world problems but ...

if you like the game already, buy the expansion. theres no reason to wait if you already plan to buy it eventually anyway unless money is tight.

btw you get an armoury bonus if you level any jobs who are lower level than your max. so you would be getting 50% for your war, which, if i remember right, would stack with the new server bonus for 150%. not counting resting.


umm, just buy the expansion. youll most likely end up leveling a few more than PLD no matter what you do anyway.

Also you need to buy and register both expansions if you want to level beyond 50 (Heavensward and Stormblood, but the later comes with the former anyway), as your exp will cap out at 50 otherwise - buying the expansions is the only way to level beyond 50.

So they're definitely worth investing in for that alone.

I do plan to buy the expansion but something tells me it might go on sale in week or two due to the 4th anniversary coming and I hate it miss out on bargain!

So this question is what do I do till this week or next week and when will the 100% exp buff ends etc and how to make the best use of that buff!

In your opinion, is 1 - 50 harder to level than 50 - 60? thanks

I think I am getting expansion but I think I phrased the question incorrectly.

I want to make the best use of 100% exp buff and I don't know when that will get turned off so what is the hardest to level range? 1 - 50 or 50 - 60?

If 1 - 50 is the hardest then it make sens to level the WAR to 1- 50 now while the buff is active.

The Path to 60 functions on all classes that are under level 60 - as soon as you hit 60 you no longer get the buff on that class/job but will continue to get it for all other classes/jobs that are not yet 60.

Best thing to do is get the Stormblood expansion (it also contains Havensward) and carry on to 60 on your main class then switch over if you want.

Also - it is not known how long this buff will be active for so I strongly advise you to make the most of it. The amount of xp needed from 50 to 60 is considerable and the buff really helps.

I just did everything on my Dragoon to 70, unlocking all dungeons and trials, etc. So when I go back and level another class I can go straight to each dungeon as I level.

You cannot move on to the expansion content anyway until you catch up on your MSQ. So while you'll certainly want to buy them eventually, you might be better using your Warrior who, once you hit 30, can level up doing the quests, rather than doing level 30 quests on your level 50 Paladin. Quest XP doesn't scale to your level.

Up until level 60, it's 100% for the armoury bonus (then 50% from 60-70). And yes, that stacks with the new server bonus and other assorted XP buffs (rest bonus, FC buffs, equipment bonuses, food, and so on).

Focus on the MSQ.

You cannot skip around it and it's going to take some serious time to complete.

Thanks all for your advice. It seems the best course of action is to level up the warrior and finish the MSQ so nothing get wasted!
