    Need some help for 2 star melds

    Hello everyone

    Would like to meld my gear for 2 star receipes. Would it make sense to use the yellow script mh and how should my melds be? Just found a melding guide for the crafted mh and my laptop is broken so I just have my smartphone and its horroble to check melds with it. I hope someone could help me.

    Personally I prefer using crafted main hand because you can slot a CP+4 materia into it. There's a huge quality increase if you are able to reach 522 CP compared to 520 CP, so you will want to plan your meld around that. Also, you will be able to convert your main hand/off hand into materia easily when they are fully spiritbonded (they are cheap anyway).

    I was considering using the Yellow Scrip main hands at first, but I decided to go with the crafted ones just to slot extra CP materia in them, since you generally want to try and completely maximize your CP when melding crafting gear after meeting the craftsmanship/control requirements. Plus, as Mirarara said, converting your main-hand and off-hand after they fully spiritbonded nets you free Tier V/possibly Tier VI materia for the next tier of recipes. The i290 tools are extremely easy to make with very easy to obtain mats, so I would recommend using the crafted tools, spiritbonding them to 100%, and then converting them after making yourself a new set.

    The first thing you want to do is the meet the 1320 Craftsmanship and 1220 Control requirements when melding your gear, and then use your remaining open slots to try and fully max out CP for each piece. (If you use food, I would highly suggest HQ Tempura Platter for the nice CP boost it gives you--54 CP is fairly hard to beat, plus it gives you a 53 point boost to Craftsmanship; if you still feel like you need more CP, you can also use the HQ Cunning Craftsman's Tea to give you 12 CP, and it is stackable with food). When melding, I would suggest to not consider the extra 20 Craftsmanship/Control the Souls give you if you are looking to omni-craft.

    If Tier VIs are fairly cheap on your server, I would look into slotting them in your guaranteed slots, following with using Tier Vs, IVs, and IIIs in your advanced slots. If Tier VIs are expensive, it's still very easy to meet the stat requirements to 2** and to max out CP for each piece, but you basically have to pentameld, and it doesn't leave you much wiggle room for future recipe tiers. However, by the time 3*** recipes are released, there will probably be new sets of better crafted gear anyways, so I would not worry too much about this.

    My melding plan involved pentamelding each piece (except the tools which only have a couple materia slotted) since Tier VIs are still relatively expensive on my server. I only slotted Tier Vs in the guaranteed slots, and all advanced slots are Tier IVs, IIIs, and a couple of Tier I CP materia. I actually found the melding plan in another thread on this forum, so credit goes to the individual who came up with the plan. I tweaked it slightly because the original did not use HQ Tempura, and the rotation I use for 1* and 2** requires 500+ CP, but it is still relatively close to the melding plan they came up with, and I did not find it too difficult or too expensive to do. The melds do not take into consideration the specialist Souls so that I am able to meet the 2** requirements without food on each of my crafters--I use food strictly for the CP boost.

    I know Ariyala is finicky when it comes to using the site on mobile devices, but the easiest way for me to explain the melds I did without typing out a wall-o-text is to just link you the page for it.

    Hopefully this help you out!

    Here are my melds. It works even if you are not a specialist.
    I left so many slots unmelded just in case we get new recipes with higher craftsmanship and control requirements in the future.

    Stats:
    1313 Craftsmanship ---> 1355 with food.
    1222 Control.
    462 CP ---> 505 with food.

    Food used: Tempura Platter NQ (Bought from NPC at Kugane).

    If you are specialist, you can leave MH unmeleded or just use Yellow scrips MH.

    Rotation:

    The 3rd Prudent Touch in the second macro isn't covered by SH II... Do you have a version that can resolve that?

    I guess you can switch Ingenuity with the Steady Hand II above it. That will cover all the Prudent Touches, but will render 1 fewer Prudent Touch affected by Ingen.

    Thanks for your posts guys. This will help me a lot.

    @Hyo

    Thank you, I think I will go your meld path because VI's are very expensive on my server. Would you share your rotation? And do you use hq mats with your rotation?

    @Yeol

    Thank you for your melds too but as already said VI's are expensive so I have to pentameld my stuff. I just hope RNGesus is with me. And I hope its not to late to make some decent profit with 2 star receipes.

    Depending on how many Retainers you have, VI's can be cheap.

    There are easy recipes that can be QS'd using storebought i290 gear, once you are 70, such as Zelkova Lumber or Twinthread/Twinsilk. Granted, the fail rate will be higher than you want, but you can easily SB the gear and produce the V's, and VI's, you need. It will take a few sets to get the materia you need, but it is certainly a lot less expensive than buying VI's off of the board!

    Oh, the retainers? They're the ones who should be getting your mats for the SB sessions. Either send them for the Zelkova wood, or the Effervescent Water / Twincoon, or whatever else you may decide to QS for SB'ing.

    Btw how does spiritbond work? I meld some cheap materia into my gear for faster sb and took a potion. After that I made a lot of gyuleather and my sb went from 1%-1% oO
    Is it because the lvl of the receipe was lower than my lvl?
