    Crit and Scholars

I off class scholar, and putting Crit on just about every meld I can to maximize, but it seems that despite how much I put on, I don't really notice an immediate change. I'm up to about 1900 + Crit, and I haven't noticed any notable gains to adlo crit frequency.

This has made me question of Crit is really the best stat to go, or if perhaps it has dimishing returns in regards to heals... or if me just standing around spamming adlo on myself isn't the best measure of how well it does.

I'd appreciate some thoughts from other scholars? I'm also wondering if i shouldn't opt to gear it more like my tank and prioritize Direct Hit despite the absent gains to heals.

Crit is good because it both up your DPS and healing. But you should be stacking crit for that super strong shield.
you can't rely on that and overall SCH shields are not that worthy to cast anymore as you have well better tool outside of them.

So it's not bad, and it'll get better with gear getting stronger. But you should see it more as a way to both increase your heal and DPS at the same time more than a way to get shield crit.
You can also build det for the same result, if you don't value your DPS above your healing.

But if it's the case, DH is indeed your best friend for big numbers.

I feel the opposite, actually? I've noticed my Aldo critting somewhat more reliably as of late, but not until my ilvl pushed past 320.

Generally speaking though, crit-focused classes fare better the later into the expansion we are.

I'm at 2007 crit right now and I've noticed it helps a LOT in both light instances and raids. Like any RNG-based mechanic it's going to be hit or miss, but SCH is the kind of healer that can usually take advantage of every single crit.

It's actually kind of broken when you can wait until a tank is <20% health, press a single lustrate and instantly heal someone for 18k, then go back to DPS'ing while your fairy is getting crits for almost 5k every 3s. And if you don't crit, you can just lustrate again right away, or pop dissipation if you need stuff done now.

Plus, crit lets you pull off BIG D HEALS that make WHM jealous - http://i.imgur.com/Vdu8PIS.jpg

Anyway, maxing Determination is just a boring flat ~10% increase in heals, Piety sucks, and Spell Speed is just ok. So there's really nothing else to build that would make healing more exciting.

I'm not sure how crit makes it more exciting though. It's not like sch has a wealth of mechanics that change how they act when you crit.

Well other than seeing big numbers, that's always nice no matter what you play.

We have one, which is more than a lot of other classes, more than any of our other stats, and when it goes off and is successfully deployed it's a PRETTY solid feeling.

Critical Hit is the number go to stat for SCH. SCH benefits a lot from Crit compared to other healers with the shielding aspect and how MP expensive GCD heals are for SCH. Critical Hit oGCD and fairy heals are nice too.

Determination is a good 2nd stat to get since it just a potency increase on heals/damage. Fairy is affected by Determination as well.

Piety scaling is really bad on SCH. We get less MP than other healers per point of Piety.

Spell speed is okay but is not as beneficial to most of SCH's toolkit.

Direct Hit is a good stat to take instead of Determination if your group allows to you maintain 95%+ DPS uptime. Having to spend more time with GCD heals reduces the advantage of Direct Hit since it does nothing for healing.
