The actual threats antagonists pose or just more dangerous villains in general, using the garleans as an example I feel like stormblood has just shown them as completely incompetent and quite easy to route. We've heard time and time again how they are this big looming threat and yet every time we encounter them it's made out to be rather mundane and of no real impact or consequence. I mean I guess it comes down to funding but any of the 'battles' we see in cutscenes just look plain pathetic, Doma especially. Zenos on his own was great but everyone else and the empire as a fighting force just came off as lackluster and I think any cutscenes we get that display large conflicts in future should have just a little more work put into them.

Speaking of warfare within this universe hearing general strategies for the average fighting man would be interesting, like I remember hearing Raubahn mentioning how scary it is to take on magitek armor for the first time, I'd like to hear more specifics about how standard rank and file actually deal with forces tougher than them, same with ishgard and the dragons as well or the general application of mages and how non-magic infantry deal with them, Oh and airships as well. How do Alliance forces take out juggernauts or dreadnoughts?

I definitely agree with you Moose! 1.0 Gridanian society was so much different to what we have in ARR it makes me wonder just how much is still canon and what has been quietly handwaved or retconned away.

Most importantly, I want to know what happened with Duncan and Khrimm, what happened to Khrimm's parents and their 'secret mission' they were willing to be labelled as pariahs to provide a cover story for, the elementals and woodsin playing a more major role in how the spoken races interact with the forest, whether it was an Ascian attacking the Wood Wailers to stir up trouble, how Yda and Papalymo were able to capture Duncan with little effort.

All these things are big question marks to me and I would love to see them resolved or at least given some form of closure eventually.

This too! Although not really lore connected 1.0 armour designs did have a certain utility to them that current armour designs have eschewed in favour of bizzare, even alien, styling, to the game's detriment. I especially miss plain tabards without those silly breastplates and shoulderpads - I'm glad I still have my old dated ones with that basic design but not being able to dye them is an issue. But really, just some new basic armour that is nice looking but not over the top would be a change of pace.

I'd like to explore aetherology, aetherochemistry, magitek, and cybernetics. These are all very deep subjects that are brushed over in-game, at best.

For specifics, I'd like to know more about Heaven-on-High, the House of the Crooked Coin, and Prism Lake. These are all very mysterious landmarks with no real explanation as to what they are.

I'd just like to point out this is asking for characterization changes, not asking to learn more about the world; the Scions (sans you) have been working together for years. If someone was going to fully betray them or interpersonal conflicts come to a head, they likely would have already. (Note that Urianger does go behind everyone else's backs with the Warriors of Darkness plot, even if he never fully betrays the protagonists.)

A story being dark, "gritty," and cynical does not automatically make it better, I feel it's worth mentioning.

I'm hoping Othard gets expanded on a lot in the future, not just in 4.x, but in future expansions, as well.

I'd like to see more of Hingashi, since we know Kugane is just one of its small outlying islands, while the capital of Koshu is on the main island.

The history of the Au Ra is something that's pretty vague, too, since all we know is that they were a united people at one point, but unknown circumstances led to the Raen deciding to live away from the Steppe, as well as the Xaela dividing into several tribes. There's also the whole matter of that third clan that was off-handedly mentioned at a lore panel. I'm curious as to where they're living, assuming they're still alive at all (The fact that they haven't been mentioned at all ingame gives me the impression they probably aren't).

+1 to this, with an emphasis on aetherology and aetherochemistry.

I'd also like to know more about the physical and metaphysical properties of soul stones (as well as whether or not they contain a degree of sentiency) and crystals (the uses of deaspected and empty crystals, whether or not it's possible to 'refill' an empty crystal or tilt the balance contained in a deaspected one to one more desirable and whether or not it's possible to create synthetic crystal in a process akin to refining ceruleum).

I'm also hoping they explore the implications of Rowena owning a node fallen from Azys Lla and whether or not she uses it to read those tomestones she's said to be selling off...

Well, Drest's situation in Eastern La Noscea pretty much showed that the Alliance actively shoots down Garlean fighters such as Juggernauts with cannons (his Juggernaut he specifically stated was shot down by Maelstrom cannons), which would also explain the various wrecked airships and machina lying around the Fringes as well.

And lets face facts, Juggernauts are hardly aerodynamic and somewhat cumbersome (resembling a flying stovepipe more than anything), thus they'd probably be much easier to hit than you would think, especially if the pilot foolishly decides to engage ground mode.

Also End of an Era showed BLMs and THMs easily destroying magitek armour with mere fire and thunder spells, so for all their blustering, Garlean machina isn't quite as indestructible as they make it out to be.

More Keepers, more Gridania, more Yanxia/Hingashi, and more Raen.

I think Azys Lla is underused right now. After the base HW story all we did was fly back there for the warring triad.
It feels there is more to this zone. I hope the Lochs won't share a similar fate.

Also Mor Dhona. Silvertear lake and the south east shore that leads to gridania (or used to in 1.0)

Which is incredibly sad when you consider how tremendously ominous the concept of that area was with the Greenwrath and whatnot. Heck, had the 1.x ideas of the Black Shroud been remastered to be more traversable in its verticality, that place would have been truly awesome and unique, as compared to the simple staple dusty forests settings of most of ARR's Shroud.
