Thanks for the reply. I won't risk getting the CE then. I was really after the CE mount but can't justify paying £20 just for the mount! If I also got 30 days then I was more than happy to buy the CE version.

Note that you do get 30 days if you get the PS4 version. I had the PC version and i bought the PS4 version later on and added to the same mog station account and i did get 30 days added. This is where the platform stuff comes up.

The reason why I considered CE as "platform" is that when you look at your mog station, it has 4 different sections. PC, PS4, MAC and CE.

Although you do get another 30 days by adding an actual second platform (e.g. adding PS4 to your existing PC licence), just upgrading to the collector's edition does not qualify for that.

That's probably just because the collector's edition items are common to all of them. There are Realm Reborn CE items, Heavensward CE items, and Stormblood CE items, but not separated out by which platform you're on. People with multiple platforms licenced only need to get CE once to have the items available.
