They are small and cute, but they do not look like children, and it’s strange to me that other players see them that way given how different their proportions are to actual kids irl. If a lalafell came to life and walked around, people would assume they were an alien way before they’d think they were a child. They remind me a lot of how Santa’s Elves are often portrayed in media.
Welp, at least Square didn't make children work at a Casino wearing " Playboy-like-Bunny-Attires ". That would be Silly XD

Well at least Square wouldn't have underaged characters get married to each other in their game... Wait...

Honest Opinion. I see them as children. When they have beards or other more adult visuals/clothing it looks like dress-up. gnomes look like small adults, hobbits also look like small adults. They don't looks good in cutscenes (feels like a meme), and I think items just look strange on them. Not a fan of calling them anything weird like this potato thing or other small-talk like words. I'd rather have a different race in the game to be honest and I can only agree with Genbu calling them urchins. This same sort of thing reminds exactly of how people reacted to Shai being brought in to BDO.
Of course they are children that's why the half naked Lalas in the Gold Saucer make your stomach go bad. Lalas, 700 year old dragon, vampire, sure whatever works as an execuse. They are the typical Japanese "Lolis", I know it you know it everybody knows it.
I personally dont but I also raise some eyebrows for those people whom cross that line in having their lala characters erp.
I think of them a lot like my original visualization of hobbits when I read The Hobbit as a kid, long before the movies were made. Or kender from D&D. Much more along the lines of little elves than children. I remember being really torn when I watched the 1977 animated version of The Hobbit for the first time (maybe there's someone else old enough to have seen that) because although I liked it a lot, the hobbits were ugly and not even remotely similar to what I had imagined.
