Just like Elezen are the generic elf race but are really ugly so its even worse
I get a kick out of whenever a Lala Npc says something like "In my youth".
As for viewing them as children I'd say yea they're sort of like children. You'd have to be so careful to not run into one if they were real out of fear of crushing one.
I can't take them seriously as anything but a mage. Which is just really cute and theirs certainly nothing wrong with that.
So yeah I don't view them as children.
I mean, if I want to be honest, there's a ton more games with an elf that doesn't have the small cute one. Granted this is probably the one mmo where elf is one of the least popular, which is impressive.
It depends on what they're wearing. Or if he has facial hair.

I see them as the generally awful little things they're usually portrayed as. I've always been able to separate fantasy and reality so seeing them as adults is no issue. Just like how I'm suppose to believe everyone in space just speaks english or how okay it is that animals can talk. It's the age old "magic" excuse. Ain't gotta explain it.

yeaaa... lalafells and tarus have always felt cute kid chibi to me and still do^^: (sorry taru fells ; ; ) but the one excuse of people who have dwarfism no, they do not resemble children, they look like shorter adults. If lalafells had those features instead of the more common mmo chibi kid-esque im sure more people would have a less difficult time seeing a chibi like form and not associating it with a child. Thing is in most mmos there is a cutesy chibi type and this ones ours because there are people who want that too. The only time it really plays a factor to me, however, is in rp, where no offense lalas but they just don't do it for my muses^^:

Yeah, don't. Because it really isn't that big of a deal.
I know a lot of us think Elezen are oddly proportioned but never once did I see that they are "waste of space"
and that serious where they might be forum banned.
Like damn, calm down.
I know Lala's are to be the "Comic relief" sometimes and jokes but some people
actually take things way too far, like this person. Really isn't that big of a deal, they
are just characters in a game lol.
I mean I think staging a coup and being bisected for it is a pretty non-child thing to do.Yeah, it's established in game that lalafells are adults, but I was wondering what the external perception might be.
I think I'd need to spend a lot of time establishing that lalafells are absolutely adults, dealing with adult problems like money, existential bullshit, alcohol addictions, etc. before moving onto lalafells having relationships with tallfolk.
The BLM 30-50 was driven by Ququruka and his guilt over not being able to save/avenge his friends, and the THM 1-30 had Cocobusi dealing with how his morals stacked up when it was his own family on the line.
We also have Pipin who is a very prominent army general, and Nanamo as the Sultanate.
There's plenty of proof already with Lalafel being adults. In fact there's nothing to suggest otherwise. We even had two Lalafel chucking two Hyur through the air out the miner's guild in 1.0. If there are people that aren't convinced that they're adults then they're just never going to be convinced. They've made up their minds and won't let the game tell them anything.
Yeah, this is something that caught me by surprise when I first started playing the game and seeing that race is such a non-issue in the story to the point where you could nearly switch races of characters and still pretty much wind up with the story completely unchanged.I could argue it both ways.
It would make more sense to those unfamiliar with XIV, but it would make a lot LESS sense to those who know the universe well, since these races have been living around each other for literally ages and there aren't any usually reservations about marrying whoever you want, it seems.
As for why I used Roxanne as an example, yes, it is primarily for people that don't know much of Eorzea. However, using the main character of C.D., the obstacle wasn't the big nose so much as the doubt created by it. With a Lalafell, the case could be roughly the same; while there is no social stigma against marrying someone of a taller race, there may be a similar obstacle of doubt created in the mind of the Lalafell by what makes them different from their love interest.
