    Gear in FF 14

    Greetings everyone.

I was just checking for the first time a web site https://ffxiv.eorzeacollection.com/gearsets it shows all or alot of the gear sets in the game.

I noticed as well that there are different kinds of gear sets, like PvP gear, crafted, trials, tomestones etc., so all this types of gear are all different and all have different stats and purposes?

Meaning if i am to go for some PvP i will get destroyed if i use PvE gear correct? Or we are not allowed to use PvE gear when on PvP?

    Hello!

Before there was a distinction between PvE and PvP gear. Since Stormblood it has disappeared.
Now you can play with whatever you want, everyone has the same stats.
    So comme as you are

The difference is just in the way how to obtain them. Crafted gear is made by crafters, raid gear is obtained in Raids and tomestone gear is obtained via tomestones (level cap currency), PvP gear is obtained via PvP currency, i think you got the idea.

All that matters and defines the power of gear is their ilvl. This stat is the base of all other stats on the gear itself, the higher the ilvl the higher the stats on the gear.

For PvP: all gear is just for glamour. You will see it yourself if you get level 30 and your job to unlock PvP.

While item level is generally the primary thing to compare, that's not to suggest that there are no meaningful distinctions between gear of the same item level, though. Of paramount importance is the class for which it is intended. You're better off wearing gear for the proper class even if it's a lower item level. And yes, there are different specific stats on different pieces of gear, even of the same item level and for the same classes. The prevailing principle is just that you can meaningfully advance your equipment through a wide variety of types of play, so upgrades should ensue if you just do what you enjoy.
