Into Ishgard

Is there a way to get into Ishgard without finishing the AAR story? I've still got like 100 quests to go and I just really want to unlock dark knight. Can I bribe the guard at the gate? Glitch past him? Somehow teleport to ishgard's aethryte. Could a friend who has access to it bring me there on like on 2 person mount. Causing both of us to be phased in at the same time? Can I summon a demon to destroy the gate and just waltz in? Seriously anything to get into Ishgard!

But I don't want to skip the story! I want to experience it, I just don't want to wait for dark knight. Should be an optional item of "Ishgardians let you inside Ishgard cause they're nice like that"

But they are not nice towards outsiders, there is a lore reason you cannot enter Ishguard that is explained in the story quests as you work to gain thier trust.

I saved the world from the evil Garleans and their ultimate weapon which would have eventually destroyed Ishgard as well!!! Maybe an optional item called "potion of trust" you give to the guard outside the gate and he lets you in.

My condolences.

I've had several friends quit in the past because they just couldn't make it through the pre-Ishgard slog of fetchquests and bullshit.

The story in HW is much, MUCH better and well worth pushing onward, so just keep mashing that ESC key and have Netflix or something running in the background while you're hammering through it.

Sadly, the devs seem to have decided that jump potions are the solution (though they absolutely aren't) instead of paring down some of the post 50 MSQ grind.

But you have not killed a 20 meter high dragon, yet ^^
For Ishgardians dragons are more important than Garleans

It's clear that the devs learned their lesson from it though, and you can at least access Stormblood classes as soon as you hit level 50. But they've not doubled back to make any of the Heavensward classes easier to access unfortunately.

On the bright side, once you're done with the footwork, it will stay done forever. So there's that!

I fought at the Battle of Carteneau, saved the realm multiple times, and sat outside that gate trying to get in before the Calamity even struck. And they were still all like "noooo, you cant come in you dirty Highlander"

On the bright side, after you get past the initial 2.0 questline the story gets fairly good and things move a lil faster. There is still a lot in the 2.1-2.55 msq but its more meaty than the 1-50 journey. Should be able to bust through them fairly fast, esp if you have an FC willing to help you with dungeon/primal queues and skip the side quests.

Once you hit the HW quests it slows down again with a bunch of boring, fetch quests and mind numbing running until you get to 60, then the same in Stormblood from 60-70. It's only after you get past the introductory quests in an expac that the quests become less errand boy and more heroic. That's the nature of the FFXIV beast.
