Suggestion: Auto-Kick Leech Feature for Frontlines and Feast

    Greetings forum goers,

I've been spending a lot of time in PvP since Stormblood launched, and I've noticed the need for mechanics that prevent players from leeching. As I'm sure many of you know, we're finding players in almost every frontline, who simply walk back and forth on the sides of the map. These players do not contribute to the team in any way, and can really be a frustration to the other players who are trying hard to win. That's the problem.

The current solution is to attempt to vote dismiss these players after 5 minutes have passed in the duty. This is flawed. Not only do you have to endure these types of players wasting space for 5 minutes, but you have to talk your comrades in to stopping what they're doing, and voting in the dismissal. Players who are trying to win, who may currently be in the heat of battle; will not always have the time to vote. Often times I see these "leechers" waddle back and forth across the sides of the map for entire matches, unpunished.

I propose Square Enix make use of a more automated approach. For example, World of Warcraft has a mechanic in their Battlegrounds; where if you do not engage in combat within "X" amount of minutes, you receive a debuff notifying you that you will be kicked from the Battleground shortly if you do not engage in combat. I think the Frontlines would be much more enjoyable if Square Enix took a similar approach.

I don't think this is a perfect solution by any means, but I am confident that it would help the current state of affairs. Players could no longer easily tap a single movement key on their keyboard every minute or two, to stay in the Frontline and reap the reward of "participation". This change would definitely make it require more work for them to AFK leech rewards, and that alone would drive away a lot of them.

I've even seen people leeching in Feast 8v8 matches. I think the Feast would also benefit from this type of mechanic, although the timer for applying the Auto-Kick / Leeching debuff would need to be adjusted for Feast. While I think it's fair to apply the debuff on people after a couple minutes of inaction in a Frontline, and give them 30-45seconds to engage the enemy to avoid being kicked; I think those values need to be even harsher in the Feast. If you aren't engaging in the Feast within 1minute of your spawn, you deserve the a 30sec warning debuff, and if you don't engage within that amount of time, you deserve to be removed from the fray.

That's all from me folks. I think it would be a simple, yet effective step in the right direction. A direction towards improving our enjoyment on FFXIV's PvP. What do you think?

    ---

P.S. If someone makes this happen, please make sure the debuff that the leechers get has an icon with a little final fantasy leech.

I like the suggestion and it could solve some of the problem, but there's also people using some sort of bot program which keeps their character active automatically with nobody at the controls. If there's a clever way to detect and kick / suspend those accounts it would be perfect, leave only real people playing. Need some special criteria for them which doesn't flag real people who are just performing badly.

One of the GMs suggested that we mention this in the forum so the devs can see it, as I had a healer on my team who did absolutely nothing. Just stood at the entrance. Didn't move, no heals, nothing.

We talked about the vote dismiss feature but I said that even if we dismissed the healer, the other side would slaughter us and it would cost you ranking or a promotion. So my suggestion is, in the case that someone gets kicked (say, after 2 minutes instead of 5), all remaining players get something called Halone's shield or some kind of invincible buff -- and new boxes and such don't spawn until both sides are even.
