How much originality should i put into responding to a post that's essentially copypasted from every other post in this thread? there's only so many ways you can reply to a "lets make this game more like XI"
I'm not sure you read the OP carefully enough or at least you read if differently that I did.

The op asks for zones “Similar to” and specifically “doors that had different requirements to open” and then goes on to give examples of the type of thing he is asking for. Nowhere does he ask for a copy paste of entire zones… just for them to get creative with how we progress through zones via opening doors.

I personally agree. We need some variety in our zones and I enjoyed being able to stand on a pressure plate to help a small group enter a gate. Taking an idea from FFXI isn't the end of the world.

Being different just to be different isn't a key to success. If there are good ideas from other games that can be introduced into this one how is that a bad thing? If the game devs come up with an even cooler idea unique to XIV I would enjoy that too.

    Open world?

I seriously doubt it! Unless SE decides they want to not cross/server everything under the sun with 2.0. Sadly I doubt we will see much of any open world content at all.

In all seriousness I would love some more open world content no matter what it is, leave the instances for the actual boss fights for crying out loud.

Or shouldn't we have anything in XIV that is like something that existed in XI?
It's funny how people want this game to be like a WoW clone or a generic MMO you can download from any asian website, yet it's a sin to want them to borrow from their own previous MMO, let alone series, I don't think I'll ever understand MMORPG players.

You're welcome to leave and go there.
Here's a good idea! When the meteor hit, we all wake up in an HD Rolanberry field and Eorzea and Hydaelyn was just a nightmare our character had when we were frolicking in the fields.

Gonna kill yaself now Zeref? lol.

Serious note though, FFXI did a good job at open world dungeons because anything that mattered were dumped in a BCNM arena (that was instanced in most of them) or were spawned through quest/mission triggers. The only arguement against open world content:

"BUT GAIZ...RMEMEBER DRAGON'S AERY? BOTS?! JP BUTTONZ?!"

Yeah no, horribly designed HNMs =/= horribly designed open world dungeons.

What did you do in most FF games from the Famicom days to the early playstation days? Dungeons and puzzle solving, why can't that continue here in a non-instanced setting?

I'd love to see some co-opperative puzzles and other mechanics make its way into this game.

Its what MULTI-PLAYER is all about.

I like this idea. I also would like to see us not having every single map on entry...gotta earn them. I don't have any zones memorized and I wish I did, but I just look at the mini maps and main maps! Also, maybe make us walk to teleportation crystals before allowing other party members to teleport to them. Forced/encouraged exploration.

DEMOCRACY!)

Can we please get zones similar to Garliage Citadel, Quicksand Caves, Inner Horutoto Ruins, etc? Each of these zones had specific doors that had different requirements to open. Garliage had the Banishing Gates, which needed 1 person to stand on 4 buttons, Quicksand Caves had the pressure plates, which needed different weights to opens, and Inner Horutoto had the Three Mage Door, which needed a Black, White and Red mage to open (unless you had the key, dirty Windurstian cheaters!). I feel this could still add to the party aspect of the game, without the stupid YOU MUST HAVE 4 PEOPLE ABOVE LEVEL 45 TO ENTER THIS INSTANCE!!! nonsense we have now. There can be an instance further in, but I'd like to see more open-world party based content, aside from being power leveled.

It doesn't even have to be for endgame content. I'd like to see story missions take places in an area I have to run to, aside from a tiny bit away from an Aetheryte camp/gate.

    EDIT:
Eldieme Necropolis too! I don't know how I could forget a place like that... Eldieme can suck my Galkan Sausage... (DAMN YOU ANCIENT PAPYRUS!!!)
Those doors should stay in FFXI only, no offense.

This stuff you mention is all well and good until you can't find people to do it with or people who can't be bothered to help.

Try doing any of those FF11 door mechanics now and you will find it very hard to get people to help you.

I would like to see these kind of things in instances though when you already have a party formed, didn't Yoshi-p suggest that all dungeons would be converted to instanced area's anyway which means its unlikely to happen "open world"
