When did you have craftings at 60?
Regardless I do not think you are understanding why I am calling gil worthless. Everyday or some days, I listen to the novice network how some person got x amount a gil per week just from doing dailies, weeklies, etc and has x amount saved up because the game hands you everything (gear, gil etc) So I take how people talk and compare it to the general economic health of the game in general. I craft a lot, I see what moves, what does not move, so on. What moves is Level turn ins, GC turn ins, Glams (prisms, etc) gather gear, crafted gear. Gear that is only used in battle rarely moves because you have Deep, a place that gives you poetics and exp, so you can PL to 50 though it, buy 120/130 if you choose or get to 60 and buy 260-270 gear with tomes, then get drops to progress to 270. You do not need to spend a single gil other then some cheap repairs that the game hands you more then enough gil for.
This is an issue as far as a healthy econ goes. Because of this, most people are just able horde gil. On 3.3 housing sold out before I could get on the game because of poor servers disconnecting me when I tried the instant they went up. Why is this? Because people have too much GIL! people have too much gil because it is worthless for the most part and rarely used in day to day activities. Another way to look at it is housing is too cheap in comparison of housing supply and how much gil people have. I need to tell you, housing should not go to those that are lucky where the server does not disconnect them in the second it goes up.
Finally the last part I know gil is worthless is because I know I depend on little to no competition to sell something. 4.06 crashed on the second day where 3.4 lasted months as ffar as top crafted gear (250/320), why is this? It is because normal/ primals has been out for too long to create a high demand for the 320 stuff, along with waiting enough time to allow midcore to get all 70s though leves only, so a lot of people could make 320 stuff to begin with. The reason the little competition happens, despite an over abundances in crafters on one of the most populated servers of FFXIV, is because that is how worthless gil is, leaving people little motivation to craft and earn gil. The only people that want to keep earning gil despite nothing to do with it are people like me, doing it cuz we can, something to do, some like to collect gil and show off how much they made while others want the top dps number, and the other is for RMT purposes. The lack of general need of gil creates an artificial shortage of items when someone wants to go nuts (one person) and buy thier crafting levels for leve turn ins. This is the reason why things raise and falls quicker then the stock market.
Basically gil is worthless because there is no need to earn it for day to day actives + having a long term goal. People only need to save for a long term goal, such as housing with no need to spend to progress. You only need to meld for crafting if you plan on making the top items, otherwise you are fine making money crafting for those 50+ GC/leve turn ins. This leads to people having too much gil, overvaluing new items/ rare items or causing a shortage such as housing.
Depends.. if super savage is basically built on needing the gear you get from savage then no. Also that does not address the no gil sink for earlier stages in the game (i/e teleports/repair is too cheap + no need in buying gear to level)
I am not here to debate people what they are saving for or if they find gil having a worth. I am simply telling how it is in why this game's econ is not very good. If the highest pop server has problems with econ activity doesn't tell you there is a gil value problem, then I doono what to tell ya.
