Oh my goodness, Edda would be an inspired addition. She'd be a novel character in Dissidia's cast of villains, got a unique look and SE could probably make a pet based moveset for her.

----->Nael van Darnus<-----
A great villain (though sadly underrated). His interesting past gave him an insane mind, so maybe his goals would be beyond Materia and Spiritus, seeing that everything and everyone, be mortal or god, shall be purified. His abilities would be a mixture between Dragoon, Bahamut, and Golem.
Besides, he was the original (and in my opinión) best FF14 villain.
Sorry if my english is bad... NAEL VAN DARNUS FOR DISSIDIA!!

I guess for Edda they could give her a mechanic similar to Cecil. Swaps between Blackbossom (scythe) and Pureheart (Mage).

Personally I think the villains in Stormblood where a bit one dimensional. The motives behind at least one of them seemed a bit of a stretch.
The obvious cross-over of female villain accompanied by large thug was too similar a nod to Blade & Soul.

It is very difficult as each expansion have different enemies. The "general" one is Zodiark, but will pass a lot of time till finally show up (and will be in the end of FFXIV service). Rigth now, probably Gaius is the more representative enemy of FFXIV.
Edda would definitely be an interesting addition! I havent even thought of that!

Y'shtola's almost died a few times. Her near death experiences at this point are more tools to get her sidelined from the main scenario than any sort of foreshadowing. If you look at it from that angle, Thancred's on the same level of "this person is going to die."
Y'shtola was FFXIV's rep in Theatrhythm before Dissidia's arcade version added her in, so there was already a precedent. She likely would've been in World of Final Fantasy, too, if FFXIV had any love at all in that game.
It's too bad Zenos died so quickly, or I'd pick him out without question. He's the best example of a singular antagonist so far in FFXIV (outside of Nidhogg, wahh). Otherwise, it's a team of badguys like in HW or the entirety of Garlemald in ARR.
Still wondering about Nero, though, but Edda still feels like a more dynamic option.
