Paying real money to PF sellers... Really?

Assuming this person wasn't joking... How long has this real money for gear stuff been going on? Should SE reconsider its stance on the PF sellers since there is a possibility of this? Are they even aware of it? I'll with hold my opinion for now, curious as to other peoples thoughts.

Yep.

There's a group on Gilgamesh that sells runs for real money. One of the sellers even stupidly talked about it casually in her stream.

Spending real money to have someone else level or get gear for you has been a thing for years, though. So SE is absolutely aware of it.

People buy clears cuz they're bad/lazy, been going on since 2.0. SE can't do anything cuz its hard to track RMT activities when most of its done outside the game. Look on the bright side least we're not as bad at the game as those degenerates right guys.....GUYS?

While there are bad players who buy runs, there are also players who can do the content and buys too. There are serval reasons for that. When some content are sold we do prefer them to be done by us only that means 7 people that is our own while the guy is on the floor. But in some cases we do let them play and we even had one that was really good at it and been selling with us ever since. Players like these can't beat it in PF etc which is also very understandable, considering there is not that many great players left into a patch that's been out for 1 month or two.

Since long before FFXIV even existed. While it's less common than selling runs for in-game currency, but plenty of good players take real money hence why you see the advertising asking you to contact them on discord. Someone linked an advertisement for Ultimate on reddit: $1,200.

SE can't do anything. Even if they banned content selling, people will just change the wording of their advertisements and ask you contact them through discord. We actually have seen how futile it is for SE with regards to housing. Once Yoshida commented on selling plots for huge mark ups wasn't allowed, people took all the sells to reddit.

I always thought you'd have to be either really; desperate to succeed, lack any self esteem or have no sense of monetary worth in real life applications to go through with purchasing a sell or carry of any kind with real money. Yes you can get banned if caught and some people will say "what they want to do with their money is their problem and doesn't affect me" but in this instance it seems to have affected the OP since he's now stuck in a trap group and wasted time and created unnecessary stress. I also refuse to believe that people would pay egregious prices just to get gear in a game where content can be completed through pugs.

I'm proof of this having cleared V4S last month and that's after taking a 2 month break from savage content and clearing v1s and v2s in the first two weeks. However I guess this is the world we live in today where people will pay outrageous prices for a fictional asset to provide themselves with a fleeting sense of pride and self worth that they can then show off to their peers in a limited fashion. If that's the case well...

The real question here is... why $290, can't even split it in 7 or 8. $1200 at least makes sense, $150 per player.
