What next for the FF14 storyline?

I was wondering about this for a while, with regards to the msq, as I'm on the self named final quest.

Does anyone know if theres going to an extension to the storyline? What about the other enemy, who is related to Zenos (I think), as well as the Ascians?

The next MSQ will continue in 4.1. "Major" patches add new content usually. 4.1, 4.2, etc. Omega was only added in not-as-major patches because the devs don't want the raids open from day 1

XIV's major patches have pretty much followed the standard "dramatic narrative" pattern: Exposition (first act, the main expansion story), development (patch 1), complications (patches 2-3), climax (patches 3-4), falling action (patch 4), and then resolution or dénouement. It's not exact because the patches have a lot of overlap with each other and each one has some kind of mini narrative inside it ending with a primal or other big boss fight as the climax, but the pattern held pretty firm for 2.x and 3.x and I see no reason not to expect it to stay true in 4.x - because it's good storytelling.

As to where it's going, we've gotten some strong hints that Lyse may be having trouble forming a new government in Ala Mihgo. I don't think we're done with Doma's issues either. The Empire was way too blasé about losing a huge chunk of Eorzean and Othard territory.

[SPOILERS]In the short term, problems with establishing a government with possible tie ins with the Sultana wanting to turn Uldah into a Republic.

In the long term, I would like to see my character have some level of personal growth. I have been wanting this ever since Aymeric asked what I wanted for myself, not as the WoL, and most recently when Zenos asked if I would deny or accept him. I know this would never happen because accomodating all possible preferences and outcomes is not the SE waybut I can't help but wish for it as there are times when I feel like a hired goon.
