How can I check what MHz my 4GB DDR3 RAM is running at? I listed the hard drive because it's SATA and from what I understand everything is suppose to feed and draw quickly from that. As far as games that I run on high settings optimally, which has left me thrilled with my hardware:

Shadow Harvest: Phantom Ops ( probably the most modern and hardware demanding )
    Section 8 Prejudice
    S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call of Pripyat
    Fallout 3
    Bioshock 2
    Borderlands
    Killing Floor
Doom 3 ( altho a bit dated but heavy on hardware )
Everquest II ( same as Doom 3 )

Among many others, with those being the most hardware demanding and impressive.

It will be displayed in the POST, also i think it is shown in CPU-Z(google), btw the 6450 is absolute dog if you are going to upgrade the cpu get a 6770 at the very least too.

Your cpu, while a little weak, is fine. The GPU is the factor in your case.

    My kids computers:
    E6400
    4gb ddr2
    gtx285

They play fine on medium settings at 1920x1080, and have a lesser cpu than you, although their cpu is the bottleneck for them. Just earlier I saw a gtx560 for $137 online, you may want to invest in that, will make your cpu the new bottleneck, then you can upgrade to a q6600 quad core, and you should be set.

And yes your CPU also is very bad, it scores a low 2k on Passmark, where as a cheap Phenom Quad would bench a nice 6k and cost about $80 (or less XD) lol

To avoid binning ur motherboard, you should try invest in better cpu/gpu.

    My brother I setup with;
    - Phenom II X4 Quad Core 960T
    - Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6790 1024MB

Runs the game on Max 1080p, 8x AA, everything high but with depth of field and ambient occlusion turned off at 60fps. Windowed.
Awesome advice, thanks. What do you mean binning my mobo? I was afraid the 4GB RAM limit would hurt in the near future, but even Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 don't ask for me than that. I didn't think any game did. I may need to replace the mobo altogether because it's a budget Intel G41 Family Chipset and I'm betting the CPU Socket type may be inadequate.

I'd honestly suggest unchecking 'Use Application Settings' and let CCC handle the graphics, it seems to run a lot better than letting XIV's config handle it. You can easily bump it to 4x, if supported and also turn on Morphological Filtering. Your game will look better without the performance hit even with those specs.

Few things in regard to improving performance of the game.

1: go find Akir's psuedo windower (not posting the url here because SE is probably anal about it for no reason even though all it does is help the stutering and make it a true full screen)

2: go find the FFXIV Priority Booster (again not posting the url, just google it, the game is retarded and if you tab out it switches the games processor priority to low, and when you tab back in it does not go back to normal, the booster will reset it to w/e you want each time)

3: download MSI Afterburner to overclock your graphics card

4: download speccy to monitor your cpu temp and make sure everything is ok

5: play with the settings in the ffxiv config

    --------------------------------

    here is my comp's specs

    Asus Rampage 3 Extreme Mobo
Core i7 overclocked to 4GHZ and water cooled
x2 GTX 480's in SLI overclocked to 800 MHZ core clock and 2000 MHZ memory clock
6G of Corsair Dominator GT ram at 8-8-8-20 timing

    ------------------------------

    FFXIV config settings

Ambiant oculation OFF (this is important because they have not fixed this yet)
    AA max
Texture standard (even with my comp overclocked and well beyond what is needed to run this game anything above standard will cause choppiness)
    all other settings max

    -----------------------

Thanks for the heads up on my GPU guys. That was the last thing I got and my budget was low, the COMP USA guy kept assuring me the card would have 'PS3/360' graphics and would be a modest card for modern PC gaming. Friday I'll be making some adjustments. Just need to get all the right ideas in place.

Here's one of the PCs I built that can run FFXIV without problem on high settings:

    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2170236

You can make obvious upgrades, like a better processor, but this PC was a very good budget PC (Retail about, if conversion is correct, $550 USD, maybe even cheaper if you know where to look.)

Monitors I use were $150 a pop, but I've had em for awhile so I didn't factor in those costs.

I'm using a stock PC with an integrated GPU and an AMD Phenom II X4 Processor that runs at 2.80GHz. I can pretty much run all of your same games at mid-high settings with 30fps aside from Call of Pripyat, so none of those games are really not worth bragging about. Especially something like Killing Floor which was optimized to hell and back to where even five year old laptops can run the game no sweat. Even I can get 60fps on Killing Floor.

Anywho, the benchmark is really not anything to go by for this game. I got like a 308 on the desktop and I have vaguely similar settings to you. Just keep dicking around with it, until the new client comes in, at least. It should be much better by then.

I just hope it's not Unreal that they're going to use. Dem texture pops. :x

They're not using Unreal lol, MMOs that run on Unreal are still fairly...generic so to say, it's a nice engine but they're better off using a better one like Havok or Luminous, since they're using people to build one specifically for XIV that worked on Luminous.
